It's time to end th he silence about #PCOS IT'S NOT JUST INFERTILITY IT'S NOT JUST COSMETIC IT'S NOT JUST LOOSING WEIGHT IT'S NOT JUST BEING DRAMATIC We are at a crucial crossroads with PCOS Awareness.. while there has been an increase in media attention and physician awareness... we are still in the dark ages. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome or PCOS affects approximately 14 million women in the U.S. alone and 200 million worldwide.  It is a significant health concern that warrants national attention and government support so the 70% of women with #PCOS who are undiagnosed get the proper sup ..read more

What it's like to live with #PCOS Author:Ashley Levinson @PCOSgurl Many people have read my posts about #PCOS but I often wonder if they really truly understand what life with PCOS is like for those living with this syndrome. The best way I can explain it to someone who is not living with it is it's like being in a glass box..... sure people can see you but they can't hear you, they can't feel what you feel and they can often put you on aloo shelf and invalidate you if they can't understand. The truth is, many of us feel trapped inside this glass box... often screaming..trapped in bod ..read more

I am so proud to announce we have reached another milestone!!!! The online #PCOS Petition which aims to urge legislators, organizations and change makers to make polycrystalline ovary syndrome a significant health initiative has reached over 10K signatures!!!!! While we are thrilled at reaching this goal, we still have a lot of work to be done... For legislators to even begin to take this petition seriously we need a minimum of 25K signatures from patients, constituents, doctors and health care leaders... May seem like a daunting task but on Facebook alone there are some PCOS groups an ..read more

Your Family history plays an important role in your #PCOS diagnosis! Author: Ashley Levinson TWITTER/IG: @PCOSgurl The cause of #PCOS is unknown. But, #genetics, could play a role. PCOS tends to run in families; it is important to ask about family history as there are often genetic markers beyond PCOS that may indicate a predisposition to a woman having PCOS such as #diabetes, #cardiovascular disease, high cholesterol, metabolic syndrome, hypertension and impaired glucose tolerance. Women who have a first-degree relative (a sister, mother or daughter) with #PCOS have a 35 to 40%  chan ..read more

PCOS and Infertility: Misconceptions about Conception By Dr. Pamela Frank, BSc(Hons), Naturopathic Doctor As a naturopathic doctor, I frequently get emails from women diagnosed with PCOS from all over the world, desperately seeking my help to conceive.  While my naturopathic license prevents me from giving advice to people that I haven’t seen in person and done a full first assessment with, I wanted to dispel some myths and provide some words of encouragement for women with PCOS who want to have children. 1.       It can be done!  Many newly dia ..read more

PCOS and Infertility: What to do When Your Body Won’t Mind You! Guest Post by: Gretchen Kubacky, Psy.D. Everyone’s telling you to “just relax and you’ll get pregnant,”  or “take a vacation and it’ll happen.”  Isn’t that a huge pressure, besides the basic fact that getting pregnant hasn’t proven to be so easy for you, because you’ve got PCOS?   Getting pregnant can be so frustrating when it involves medical procedures, carefully timed intercourse, self-tests and monitoring, medication, and the like.  The good news is, even when it seems like your body jus ..read more
