As a 26F I just got diagnosed with PCOS after suspecting I had it for awhile. What are things you wish you knew / did when you were first diagnosed? Obviously, it’s unique to everyone, but wanted to check to see any common best practices. submitted by /u/ktrndr [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Help! I’m a 27F who can’t lose anymore weight. I’m 5’5’, 147ibs, and pear shaped. I have hormonal issues (PCOS) but I’ve managed to lose about 50 pounds over the last 10 years. These last few years I’ve really toned up. I feel confident about my looks but I want to lose a bit more weight. I lift 5x a week and run at least twice but usually three times a week. I’ll throw a couple minutes on the stair climber once or twice a week too. Over the last three weeks I’ve started eating about 1500 calories and I don’t eat past 7pm. I try to eat at least 100 grams of protein (but aim for 130). I have a ..read more

Do you guys ever feel like the victim of too much information ?

I feel like it's great to have knowledge about PCOS. But sometimes I grow tired of all of the pessimistic PCOS studies and articles that talk about how "screwed" we are. If I paid attention to everything they say about PCOS I would literally have to crawl into a ball and die ?. If I like working out and it gives me joy the next thing that I read is like "too much exercise is bad for pcos" "Don't count calories...it'll stress you out" "Don't eat dairy...fats...red meat..eat the RIGHT foods...take the RIGHT supplements...the RIGHT way" "Do you know all the things that make everyone else happy m ..read more

Anybody taking prescription med for hair loss that is not Spiro?

As the title states, is anybody taking prescription meds other than spirolactin for thinning hair. I am scared to take it because of the 50 million side effects. I've also heard doctors say that you cannot be on it your whole life and when you stop hair loss is worse than before. I don't eat keto, but I eat lower carb and am taking metaformin and birthcontrol with DHT blockers in it. I am so scared of being bald by the time I am 40 it makes me want to throw up thinking about it. Anybody have luck with saw palmetto? I am waiting to be diagnosed with PCOS- I am 100% sure that I have it. I also have perioral dermatitis on my chin- does anyone know if there’s a correlation between the two? I feel like there is. I’ve been recommended to take doxycycline for 3 MONTHS!! I hate antibiotics and that is such a long time to be on one. I don’t want to and just want to get to the root cause of the PCOS hoping that will resolve my skin issues. Does anyone have experience with this? submitted by /u/RepublicTraditional3 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

RANT: I am currently crying in disappointment… I am 22 and weigh 220lbs and have been trying few different types of diets (including the one where you dont even eat at all, unhealthy, i know) and do lots of cardio, and even take myo-inositol. I still cannot lose the weight for months… its very sad because you see so many skinny/healthy weight women eating whatever they want and doesn’t affect their weight at all… im so jealous… Ive been in and out of depression because of this, it makes me very unhappy with the way I look, I want to wear all the cute outfits or even a frikin bikini, but it do ..read more

Spironolocatone & PMS?

I've been on 100mg Spiro for about a year now and it's done wonders for hair growth, acne, weight distribution - you name it. I also got a Kyleena IUD about three years ago because my periods were excruciating. The IUD was the best decision I've ever made because it completely stops my periods. With that background info, I think I've been getting really wild mood swings and depressive episodes right at the part of my cycle where it would make sense that I'm PMSing - but I can't be sure because I haven't actually had a period in three years. It's either that, or my mood has been generally very ..read more

Hello, my name is Charlotte Lockhart, I am a third-year student studying Health and Social Care at the University of Cumbria. As a part of my dissertation, I am doing a mixed methods questionnaire, which is focused on the topic of Poly-Cystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and to what extent the treatment differs of those with a new diagnosis compared to a long-term diagnosis. To be eligible in this study, you must be born biologically as female, be over the age of 18, live in the United Kingdom and have a diagnosis of PCOS. You will be asked a series of questions about your PCOS diagnosis and experie ..read more

Don’t come at me for it but I overate and ate so much gluteny pizza today. What I’m wondering is does anyone else feel a pain in their ovaries/period pain (outside of their cycle) when eating a large carb-heavy gluten-y dairy-y meal like that? I have the worst cramping but I’m not on my period. I wondered if it’s a PCOS thing. submitted by /u/mitchonega [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
