Sound All Around

The other day as I motioned with my finger to press the speaker keyboard button on my laptop, it dawned on me that the international logo symbolizing sound has three simple curved lines, and this graphic design mimics any ancient Greek and Roman amphitheater's ascending seating rows. Amphi is Greek for 'both sides’, or 'around'. The ancient Greeks constructed semi-circular seating tiers to optimize the amplification of sound waves. This basically is the ancients original version for surround-sound. The high-acoustical vibrations were not only due to the structure’s round design but also becau ..read more

Summer of '23

This was a ‘glartiating’ summer for fumeroizing NYC, gates and walls were on the Big Apple menu. This murally active season started at Avalon Chemists and saw a tribute to parents on Mother’s and Father’s Day with a Fumeroism yellow Spiderman. Soon to follow was the Terminator at Clandestino Bar on East Canal/Ludlow St. Then came my 12th consecutive appearance at the annual Welling Court Mural Project NYC , Astoria, Queens. That design is a fragmented portrait of “Daddy’s Little Girl”. Next up was a series of Manhattan roll-down gates and walls in Chelsea and Alphabet City. A deli wall on 26t ..read more

It is with a heavy heart that I write this article of Brooklyn born and raised Keith Aronowitz, who passed away on May 23rd, 2022 at the young age of sixty. Keith was many things in life, but his passion was creating film documentaries. Keith Aronowitz has been involved in filmmaking and photography from a very early age, making his first actual film at the age of twelve. After graduating from college with a degree in Television Broadcasting, Keith moved back and forth from NYC to Los Angeles, mostly working in television as an editor while simultaneously working on passion projects such as m ..read more

Chameleon Coffee

Fumeroism has come to the West Village of Manhattan, NY. At the corner of Clarkson and Washington Street, there is a new mural depicting two regions of the world represented by two different types of 'down-to-Earth' people. The figures portrayed within the composition are based on real coffee bean growers. The woman is from Sumatra and the man wearing the hat lives in Columbia. The Chameleon brings commerce to various under-developed nations by educating the people about "resource responsibility" coffee bean growing and setting up farms for ethical sourcing. Being conscious about how Chameleo ..read more

Today marks the 24th year since the untimely passing of Christopher Wallace at the young age of 24. His death cut short the explosion that rocked the Hip Hop music world when Biggie dropped his first single 'Juicey' in 1994. 'Ready To Die' catapulted him into overnight success and ironically ended this phenom career too soon, less than two years after the album debuted. Biggie had an eclectic musical palate and his style of rhyme flow was heavily influenced by Jazz and Reggae. Biggie took that personal connection he had with music and it manifested into a unique and remarkable style of rappin ..read more

An Urban Art History Museum; When?

Did you ever ponder the idea of New York City having its own museum dedicated to its rich and lustrous history of urban art culture?  Much like how we give a rounded-off date to the start of the Italian Renaissance (1440), we can also do the same to the start of the New York Graffiti genre (1970).  Technically it was actually 1969 when "Taki 183" began to tag his name on the subway lines.  By the end of the turbulent decade of the 1960s, as America was poised to begin the 70's, the art world was dominated by Minimalism, Super-Realism and Pop Art, but another globa ..read more

The Original Spring Street - Before 190 Bowery

As a New York City street artist since 2006 I have seen 'street art oasis' come and go. One of the first NYC street art landmarks from the early era of wheat paste art was the original Spring Street (at the corner of Elizabeth Street in NoLita north of Little Italy). This was the corner of Spring Street that when it ceased to exist as a NY street art oasis in early 2007, the opposite corner at Spring-Bowery began to vegetate layers of paper and pasted art on the Germania Bank building, which also became extinct eight years later as a street art landmark in early 2015. Many of the artists see ..read more

I want to give a big thank you to First Street Green Art Park and Centre Fuge Public Arts Project for the public space they provide artists like myself with a stage for visual expression. Together we are transforming NY into an outdoor gallery where people can enjoy fine art on walls seven days a week because not everyone walks into galleries or museums, but everyone walks the streets and at FSG Park, contemporary art is crossing the streets. This is a tribute mural to Gigi and Kobe Bryant, RIP Thanks to the NY Post for their article to include my mural tribute to Kobe and Gigi, your support ..read more
