Fully open cold waterline makes waterheater leak

Just replace a 30 year old water heater with a rheem performance platinum. While swapping the old General eclectic unit, I noticed the cold water intake valve wasn't open all the way. When installing the new one, I figured why not open it all the way to allow more water pressure. Well, after some use, the cold water nipple was leaking ( factory part install) from the top fitting. I tried to tighten the nipple but was very hard, it may have moved a bit. But I also closed the cold water valve quite a bit. Everything was fine but I noticed the water pressure was weaker. Opened the valve a little ..read more

As per the title, have this weird almost clocklike occurrence happening while my family is showering after school/work, it’s happened for a few days now and we are wondering what the issue is (also affects other taps in the household so it is not just the shower). Thanks for the help. submitted by /u/brouen [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi, I need help with wiring the following: Turn off pump if pressurized tank is full Turn on pump if pressurized tank is low on water Turn off pump if cistern is low on water Turn on pump if cistern is not low on water I need wiring that prevents the pump from turning on unnecessarily (like when pressurized tank is low on water and cistern is low in water, the pump should not turn on) Im using pressure sensing relay to measure the pressurized tank water and planning to add a "buoy" based level sensing relay for the cistern Both relays should tell the pump when to turn on Thank you submitte ..read more

Im trying to install a bidet in my apartment and the toilet valve has this push pull thing instead of a regular valve. I tried to pull on it but its not budging and i feel like i might break something if i pull too hard. Any advice? https://preview.redd.it/5dewmo9kddwc1.jpg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3ef91de67063a0a93a1316319632fce635cd0b17 submitted by /u/bigfuknanimetiddies [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

As my title said, im a simple homeowner with very basic knowledge in plumbing. The main drain was leaking and i can't hire a plomber for now, i put this together with the advice of the employee at homedepot. As of rightnow nothing is leaking and everything looks solid to me. My question here is, will it last for a bit or is it bound to leak soon? submitted by /u/VitamineBro [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Rate my install. Not a plumber, didn’t know soldering, entirely YouTube learned.

As title says. I can provide my notes which outlines my thought process, steps, and procedures for this installation. Open to a roast if you think it warrants it. This took about 2 weeks of preparation and learning and 2 days to actually install. Everything on the hot water side from the propers down is me as is everything from the valve down on the supply line. I do realize the vent isn’t installed in this pic but it is currently. submitted by /u/sempered [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Pissing toilet Part 3. Repairs are complete. Discovered what the “bands” were.

RECAP: About a month ago our toilet was pissing at us. We knew that the main line was backed up. Three plumbers came to the house and all three couldn’t figure out how the “bands” were turned inside out and stuck in the main line. Finally hired someone to make the repair. The plan was to put some sort of grinder (chain) in the line and descale everything, while also attempting to cut away the bands. There was talk of using some sort of robotic saw as well. They show up and put a camera in the line again. There is water sitting in the line so I guess it’s difficult to see exactly what is g ..read more
