Sarah and I were once described as the “dynamic duo.” As a mother-daughter team, I have to say that’s pretty accurate because when I look at our lives we have different paths yet always end up on the same journey together. Sarah’s path this past year has included graduation from William Jewell College with a degree in both Accounting and Business.  She also has moved into her own place, got a sweet little puppy named Georgia and has the most amazing fiancee, Jack. That’s right, she’s getting married this year!  As I write this we are 29 days from her wedding! As her mama, Sarah ..read more

I sold my first wedding gown on June 5th, 2010. It was to a sweet bride named Adrianne and she purchased Paris, by Amy Kuchel. I still remember that moment like it was yesterday. Today, 9 years and a handful of days later, I’m going to take my last bridal appointment, and this is my final blog post for Altar Bridal. Don’t worry, Altar Bridal is not going away, just getting new stewards. I call them stewards (even though they are now the new owners) because I believe this business is more than just selling bridal gowns. It’s an opportunity to be a part of a very special moment in a bride’s life ..read more

Matthew and Kathleen met while working at the same company in downtown KCMO. They dated for about a year: she knew he was the right guy and he knew she was the right girl. They got married in the parish Kathleen attended from 2nd grade until high school. The wedding day was rainy, but perfect complete with hail, sun, a rainbow, and wonderful family and friends. The most special guests of all were Kathleen’s grandparents, 91 and 98 attending virtually via Facetime. The mass was celebrated by Matt’s cousin Father Gale Hammerschmidt. Kathleen was one of those amazing brides we felt so lucky to w ..read more

We are so excited to share Lauren and Bryant’s gorgeous spring wedding. A classic and formal wedding that took place at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, their whole wedding day was bright, elegant and happy. Lauren had a very customized and dramatic bridal look complete with a sheer, tulle overskirt with a train fit for a queen. (Speaking of the royals, it is also worth noting that Lauren and Bryant shared their wedding day with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.) We hope you enjoy these photos captured by epagaFOTO as much as we do! Lauren- thank you so much for sharing this peek at your wedding ..read more

The sun is out, the temps are rising, and wedding season is in sight! We took a little time scrolling through some recent photo shoots and couldn’t help but share some of our favorite collaborations over the last several months. With the official start of spring, we are placing special emphasis on floral – and the gown (of course). This shoot took place at The Delaware in Independence, MO. This chic space was a perfect back drop for the elegance created by Emily Love, Victorian Gardens and photographed by Justine Wright. Our Visconti gown from Watters creates a classic yet updated look for t ..read more

We are so honored to share Kelcie and Ian’s elegant Kansas City wedding. These beautiful photos by The Grays Photography perfectly captured the essence of their timeless and romantic wedding day. Working with Kelcie was truly one of those dream experiences as a boutique bridal salon. After her first appointment here and following a few other appointments, Kelcie had seen enough of our options to know we had (or could create) what she was looking for. Kelcie was after a very classic, bridal gown style but with all the modern romance that the newer trends have to offer. A lot of the m ..read more

From the bride: Daniel and I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he proposed after 3 years together. I’m originally from Kansas City, but actually lived in Tulsa during elementary and middle school. We used to go to Woodward Park as a family growing up, and Daniel took me and our dog Winston there on October 21, 2017 on what I thought was a picnic and ball fetching day. Daniel proposed in the same spot my family and I always went to at the park and once we drove home, our entire family and friends were there waiting to surprise me and celebrate us. It was an amazing day. Family is a hu ..read more
