Title says it all. She researched TSD of bloodstains using colorimetric analysis. Can’t wait to watch her blossom into a forensic professional.

My 91 year old great-aunt was found dead in her home on 19th April. The police entered her apartment in central Madrid because the neighbours called them about a smell coming from her apartment.
The report says it wasn't possible to identify her physically, and so they need a family member (her sister, my other aunt) to formally identify her. I found this odd, because they already know it's her, they called another aunt who lives in Chile and let her know today. They sent a report saying she had been dead for month(s) and someone mentioned that she'd died of a heart attack, although I couldn ..read more

Title. I learned about GCMS in my high school forensics class and I have a chicken place whose seasoning is fire, but we cant seem to replicate it. I know it's typically used for more homogenous substances, but if I found someone who would even test it, could it figure out the ingredients?

As the city is historically known for both high crime and corruption in multiple levels of government and policing, my partner has concerns about me applying and that there could possibly be a scenario where there would be harmful consequences from criminals or law enforcement if I didnt process results to someone's liking.
Has anyone who worked in forensic DNA heard about something like this happening before? Has anyone heard rumors or faced threats or pr ..read more

This is from a case with a suspiciously vague narrative.
In a recent hearing, a key aspect of the presented narrative was disproven. It was one I never trusted and was always skeptical of bc it left the door open to other interpretations in a very indirect way that seemed to deliberately lead to a conclusion that they also seemed to be avoiding stating as fact.
So now I’m curious about all sorts of details & noticed this discrepancy, which might be insignificant, but I know that standards for report-phrasing can be very precise, so I’m wondering if this yields some specialized info o ..read more

A lot of the jobs in my areas require a bachelor in forensic science, or relevant field. What's the educational and employment benefit of a bachelor in a forensic science vs natural science?
