Hi! I need help in obtaining auto insurance. My finance got to an accident 12/21 (wasn’t his fault) but it’s causing our insurance to sky rocket. Unfortunately living in Florida, insurance companies are not forgiving to say the least. Geico, liberty mutual, and progressive will not give me coverage. Does anyone have advice? submitted by /u/Foreign-Midnight-525 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Will insurance cover a porch collapse?

(Delete if not allowed) I’m needing some advice for my parents. My dad was walking on the wrap around porch that is attached to his house when it suddenly started to shake and collapsed. Thankfully, my dad is okay but he’s worried about fixing the damage. He has home insurance but he’s never had to use it. My question is, will they cover it? He doesn’t live in a flood zone nor has there been any prior flood damage. No sign of moisture or mold from what we can see. (Texas) Our worse fear is that they won’t and we’ll be left to fix it on our own. My dad is disabled and my mother is retired whic ..read more

Auto Insurance getting too expensive. Thinking of lowering coverages, how well has your low coverage worked for you in an accident?

Live in Houston, TX I typically do max coverage at 300k/500k all the way around. That gets me $1747 for 6 months with Progressive for a 2022 Tesla Model 3 and my wife's 2016 Infiniti Q50. My insurance has gone up 100-300 dollars for 6 months 4 renewals in a row and I'm just tired of it going up so I am going to lower coverage. I was thinking of dropping to a lower coverage, maybe 100k/300k, but was curious about people with lower coverage like 30k/60k how their accidents have been handled in the past. Has anyone ever gotten in an accident with lower coverage where it was not enough? What happ ..read more

Insurance for Kia with push to start.

I have seen the insurance rise more and more and it's nearly $450 a month with Progressive at renewal. This is a Kia 2021 with a push to start. Is there any insurance company that takes into account that this is not the Kia Boys model, or do they all get treated the same? What companies should I be looking at? I went to an independent broker that found progressive 6 months ago. Any assistance would be appreciated. submitted by /u/subhavoc42 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I recently made a post about my boyfriend getting into a collision this past weekend on his way home from work. He was on the interstate and traveling 75 mph when she pulled out from the median (it was also midnight). My boyfriend described her pulling out completely horizontally and perpendicular to oncoming traffic. His truck is likely totaled and her insurance tried telling my boyfriend he needed to get it out of the towing place because it was racking up charges. If you want to check details you can go look at the post on my page. But this morning we learned that she’s being held in jail ..read more

Insurance Company can't or wont give me an "Insurance Binder", this is blocking vehicle purchase.

I am in the process of purchasing a vehicle and use Bristol West as my insurer. I had this new vehicle added to my existing policy as Vehicle 2. However, my credit union won't release the check to me to finalize this purchase until they get a Insurance Binder. It seems Bristol West just wont give me one, which is infuriating. What can I do to get an Insurance Binder listing my credit union as leinholder from Bristol West? Is there a difference between an 'insurance binder' and a policy? Thank you! submitted by /u/piratebroadcast [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Being loyal for a long time……

Is it worth to being loyal to one insurance company for a long time? Some says they are with this or that company for 20-25 years as policy holder and they rate doesn’t go up as much others. We use AMICA (4 years) for car and condo (HO6) insurance after switching from GEICO (10 years). Had a few claims with GEICO on our car and they handled nice, but rates went through the roof. I found many reviews about Amica and people like them. Wondering if it is true? Are you guys stay with the same company for a long time? Of course trying not have claims, but things can happen anyway. submitted by /u ..read more

Quote from insurance agency went up over 75%. I need help making sense of it.

Backstory: I've been with this insurance agency for ~8 years now (Home and Auto) and they've always found a lower price than I could have shopping online. I'm in Ohio Recently I traded in a 2017 GMC Acadia for a 2021 Honda Odyssey. Also have a 2018 Lincoln MKc. Erie insurance raised my rate from $903 to $1593 for a 12 month quote through my insurance agent. When I went online to shop around I found apples to apples a quote for $1004 for 12 months through Progressive and $1080 through Geico. I called my independent insurance agent to ask why the rate shot up and was told that it is more expens ..read more

Elderly woman wants to insure her home only 1/2 the year - during fire season. This viable?

An elderly woman up here in the mountains where we live is on a fixed income, and can no longer afford her homeowners insurance, as it has almost tripled for all of us up here. Her idea is to only insure her home half the year, during fire season. Then cancel, and reinsure her home the next fire season. Besides the inherent risks of not being insured half the year, does this set her up for any issues with the insurance companies? Do they keep track of this sort of thing and blacklist you? As it seems her only choice is to have partial-year insurance or none at all. Edited to add: She plans to ..read more
