With more than 180 000 jars of jam sold worldwide and 1 400 different variety of flavors, Christine Ferber can rightfully be called “La fée des confitures” (the jam fairy in French). This is what she is well-known for but when I traveled to her village, Niedermorschwihr in the Alsace-region, I found out she is much more than that. My dear friend Parisbreakfast has always been talking about Christine Ferber, praising her for her jam and thats how I discovered her. Take my advise and try it once and I promise you’ll quickly notice how different it is from commercial jams, both in its texture and ..read more

Levain (sourdough in English) is the name of the 2-star Michelin and MOF (Meilleur Ouvrier de France) Olivier Nasti. It’s located just around the corner where his restaurant “Chambard” is situated in the small village Kaysersberg in Alsace. Levain – newly opened boulangerie by Olivier Nasti The boulangerie opened one month ago, in mid-August, and as Parisbreakfast and I were in the area, in the village Niedermorschwihr we didn’t want to miss it. It is just about 10 minutes drive from Kaysersberg, so we decided to go there one early morning to explore this bakery. After a scenic drive through h ..read more

Fine dining inside the golden gates of Château de Versailles is, since a few years back, now possible thanks to Alain Ducasse‘s gastronomic restaurant Ore. As a quite regular visitor at the Château de Versailles, I felt it was time to try out this restaurant two weeks ago and I am happy I did. Its a very spacious place, minimalistic design yet sparkling in gold. Many parts of the restaurant are in different shades of gold, even the tables are covered in gold. And through the windows of the restaurant you’ll be overlooking the Royal courtyard the courtyard of Honour. Its a perfect place to come ..read more

Just like La Suvera, this place has a past, in fact the restaurant is set in an old olive oil mill and you can still admire the antique machinery inside. With a cozy fireplace and impressive chandeliers Oliviera is the perfect setting for a romantic candle dinner. Here you will explore Tuscan specialties accompanied by an excellent selection of wines that defines this iconic Italian region. Influenced by the Tuscan territory, the restaurant’s chef, Giovan ..read more

Last week I had been invited to Il Gelato del Marchese together with a dear friend. For the occasion of Saint Valentine’s Day they had a special flavor, named Glace de l’Ambassadrice! I’m always eager to try new flavors so it was a pleasure to return to the elegant tea salon of Il Gelato del Marchese for a gelato tasting over a cup of delightful tea and a cappuccino. I can truly recommend you to do a gelato tasting rather than having a few scopes of flavors. Me and my friend tried 6 different flavors together with a generous filled cup with their delicious homemade panna montata (whipped cream ..read more
