Where I live, I have easy access to a number of rums, but fairly few of them are Demerara.
I can usually find the following (excluding overproof):
Pusser's (regular and gunpowder proof)
Hamilton 86
El Dorado (3, 5, 8, and 12)
Lemon Hart 1804
I currently have a bottle of Pusser's and I enjoy it. Any recommendations for what I should try when I 86 it ?

My local store has a uniquely decent selection compared to others in the area. I’m not too familiar with Foursquare, having only tasted a sip of some at Latitude 29 years ago. I’m also new to Hampden and have only had the 46, but I absolutely love it, so I’m leaning that direction.
I love funky rums (Smith & Cross, etc.) but have less experience with better sippers… only a few bottles of Diplimatico and K&S in my history, so I’ve been eyeing these for a while as a step up. Multiple bottles are available for all of these except for the Great House which only has one left.

I'm thinking of buying one La Mauny, but is XO better or Excellence Rhum collection better? I'm conflicted because the latter's 3-year aging seems a little young.

Hi,
I’m throwing a party this weekend and will be making large batches of rum punch. I’ve done this before, but this year I’m considering adding either Angostura Bitters or St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram but can’t settle on a starting point for how much to add.
My recipe makes 10 cups/80 oz, follows the traditional “1 pt sour, 2 pts sweet, 3 pts strong, 4 pts weak” ratio, and uses a mixture of both light and dark rums.
I quite like bitters in normal cocktails, but bc this is for a party I want an approachable amount. I’ve done the math and figured that I typically use about 3-4 shakes from a nor ..read more

This is a follow-up to this post.
I got a couple additional bottles since (I need to give them more time, but on initial pour, I thought Barbancourt 8 was solid but not exciting and Smith & Cross is really interesting with some cool fruit but a little more sweaty funk than I think I prefer...also, I did not originally realize it was overproof before taking a sip, so that was a fun surprise).
So far, AE12 is still the one that hits the sweet spot for me, which is fine, but I want to see what else exists that's more similar to that profile. Most of the shelf space around here is devoted to ..read more
