Okay so I’ve been lacking on my meds ik I shouldn’t but I’ve just been taking them later and later and I tell myself I’ll get back into but I haven’t. Basically I usually take my inhaler around 8am but it’s currently 10pm and I haven’t taken it. Do I just wait and skip a dose or do I take it now and slowly start pushing my way back to 8am? I really don’t know what to do and could use advice submitted by /u/Taline_Kevranian [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Sudden asthma in my bed and only my bed???

I have had asthma my whole life. It is rarely random and mainly triggered by too much laughter, intense heat, or exercise. Throughout the entirety of April, I have random asthma on and off but only when laying in my bed. I first thought allergies from weather and pet dander, as benadryl does lessen it. I bought an air purifier and was okay for a few nights. It's now back. Tried it with the fan on or window open and that stopped it for another night, but now that isn't working either. So I figured maybe none of those solved it and it was just coincidence. Once again, it only triggers when layi ..read more

I have allergy induced asthma and I do live with cats but this isn’t a normal wheezing or asthma attack. This crackling has been coming out of my lungs only when I lie down but no one has heard this before. Anyone have an idea? submitted by /u/StrawHatRedBeard [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I am 17 and have had asthma ever since I was 14 because of a bad case of bronchitis which was not controlled well. Around last year my asthma was a lot better and I usually only needed one puff of Albuterol before working out. In January I had an attack that lasted for awhile and my symptoms worsened. I really only get asthma when I workout but it’s every single time I workout even when I take my inhaler twice before I workout. I get two symptoms usually which are not being able to take a deep breath and lots of mucus this then goes on for 2-3 days after. Is there any tips you guys have and a ..read more

Hi All, I have two little boys (twins) both viral asthmatics, almost 3 y/o. They’re well controlled on asmanex and Flovent… insurance and manufacturing dependent…we weathered RSV, Covid, other various respiratory illnesses all winter. Of course we get a random cold and suddenly I’m seeing slight retracted breathing in one of my boys. We take the opportunity and go to the ER where they find a very tiny (maybe not even) patch of pneumonia. My question is, has anyone experienced a type of illness where none of their maintence medication seems to work? This happened almost a year ago, when they w ..read more

Cat allergies triggered permanent asthma?

I was recently cat sitting for a week (at someone else’s house, where the cat lives). I’ve always had cat allergies, but usually only in the form of itching/sneezing etc, so I didn’t think much of cat sitting and just taking allergy medication. On the second day there, though, I found I was wheezing, and I ended up using my partner’s rescue inhaler several times throughout the week when I was wheezing or coughing badly. Now, I’ve been home for a week, but anytime I exercise I cough or wheeze after - not as bad as when I was with the cat, but less than ideal. Do I have asthma now? Will this st ..read more

You are not invincible! Don't forget it!

Hey you, yes you! I know you just finished up your round of corticosteroids and you feel like a champ. Your lungs are working, no wheezing, no coughing, you can laugh fine and you feel invincible. But please, for the love of god don't stop taking your singulair, your symbicort, or whatever other long term control meds you take. I know we sometimes have that thought, "Hey it feels like i don't even have asthma" followed by a few consecutive days of no meds being taken(i'm severely guilty of this), but i'm always reminded not too long after that, oh wait, I do have asthma. Let's all strive to s ..read more

My 11 year old son has recently had his fourth bout of pneumonia since birth. O2 went down to 89%. Peak flow was approx 177. Salbutamol reversibility test was not conclusive - no significant change is his peak flow after 10 puffs despite the side effects that lasted more than an hour. Before he got sick with pneumonia, he is very occasionally is wheezy which he resolves with a puff of salbutamol. He also takes one puff of beclamethasone once a day. We've now had it increased to twice a day via a spacer + salbutamol 2 puffs as and when needed. Our consultant wants to put him on Seratide 250/25 ..read more
