I know the title sounds like a lot but hear me out. I moved in with him when I turned 18 still in high school. I tried to get him to use protection but he said no and I gave up. I asked if he had been tested and he said yes and I believed him. I trusted that he was being faithful to me so there was no reason for me to regularly get checked. Through out the 1.5 years I lived with him he emotionally, financially, and (lightly) physically abused me. I paid all the bills and expenses while he stayed home doing who knows what. he took away my driving privileges because “he needed the car” even tho ..read more

I don’t know if I am just stuck in a hard place but, with my diagnosis, it dwindled my chances of being more open in the dating scene as I have to limit myself. I think I’m just dealing with a slight heartbreak, but quite honestly, I am ready to just turn myself off. Shut myself down completely from the love department. I am exhausted of looking around the world and feeling broken because I can’t do it so freely. I feel trapped in my own feelings. I’m just tired of feeling. It’s not a lot left in me, and whatever was left just got destroyed because the one person who made me feel incredibly s ..read more

First time posting here, so please be kind! :) So I was diagnosed about 2 months ago and was lucky enough to start Biktarvy just a couple of days later. As we all do / did, the first thing I did was consult Google and Reddit; but I mostly came across horror stories and complaints about side effects. So I just wanted to share my own personal experience, to let others know it is not all doom and gloom! When I was diagnosed I had a CD4-count of 25 and a viral load of about 85K, so my outlooks were not that great to begin with. I did some research on the Internet and I only got more and more depr ..read more

What did you do after your diagnosis?

I haven't been diagnosed, but I think I have a high likelihood of having it. I was sleeping with this guy, most times unprotected(you can chastise me, I'm terrified now and will never do that) and he was into things where we both bleed so his blood did get into mine, and one night he asked me if I had any STD. I told him I didn't and asked why and he said because he's had untreated HIV for a long time. Haven't talked to him since obviously. Anyways, I'm going to the doctor on Monday to see if I do have it or not. I can't do a home test incase my dad finds it. So I'm wondering what everyone di ..read more

So I was diagnosed about 5 months ago and I recently started dating again. I am now undetectable. I’ve been seeing this amazing guy for a few weeks now. He’s literally perfect in every way. Of course we did not have sex yet but he really wants to. I keep making excuses of why I don’t want to. I don’t know how to tell him I have HIV … I’m soooo nervous and scared of losing him because even though it’s been a short amount of time we have developed some feelings and a strong connection. Anyway I guess my question is, do you find people will usually run away when you tell them you have HIV or do ..read more

Do you also experience the same thing? I do intermittently. I'm not taking any med right now neither doctor's consultation. I have read this article though. https://www.aidsmap.com/about-hiv/erectile-dysfunction-and-hiv#:~:text=Nerve%20damage%20that%20occurred%20with,to%20be%20of%20particular%20importance. submitted by /u/Kenji4U [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Is there anything you want me to tell the class? I'm already going to cover ways of transmission, U=U and how you can live a normal life with the right meds, but if there's anything specifically that you want me to tell them about the experience of living with HIV, go ahead and leave a comment! Let's break the stigma! Also, sidenote, I'm going to sleep now, but I'll read the comments in the morning. If you want me to make an update post about how everything went and include a couple of pics, I could also do that. submitted by /u/Revolutionary_Pay516 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hello everyone, I was diagnosed 3 months ago, 26(M) .My viral load was 86K but my doc didn't say my CD4 this is his style he is not saying CD4 to prevent us from having anxiety over numbers. He just said it is good enough. Anyways on my first bloodwork my Viral load dropped to 230. It's not undetectable yet but seems like meds are working. My afraid is drug resistance... I am taking my meds religiously. I am also a little bit of obsessed with my health (always have been) so I believe I will take my meds correctly. I am on Truvada + Tivicay. But I believe in the near future I will gain drug re ..read more

I live in a kind of corrupt European country. When I got diagnosed my CD4 was 570 and my VL was 200K. Now, we don't have an access to the most recent meds. What I'm curious about is that my doctor told me that since my viral load was high they are going to have to put me on a 2 pill a day regime. To be more precise they told me since my VL was higher than 100K I couldn't take a once pill a day therapy. The latest pill a day therapy we have is Elviplera. I got on Issentres + Truvada. The meds are working fine, I am undectable. But I'm wondering if anyone had an experience like that where your ..read more
