Palm Trees of Turks and Caicos
One Drawing A Day

Lucky me, I’ve been finding myself in the company of palm trees often this month, this time at beautiful Grace Bay in Turks & Caicos. Always a great subject to study with watercolor, especially while relaxing on the beach! Posted by Veronica ..read more

Studies of Palm Trees
One Drawing A Day

When I am wrestling with something in the studio, the best way to figure it out is to go out and draw from life! Nature never disappoints. This past weekend provided the perfect opportunity for that kind of study – while visiting my parents in Florida I enjoyed moving shapes and marks around and studying the beautiful forms of the palm trees in front of their home. I drew “the dragon” from Universal Studio’s Harry Potter experience back in 2020. Back in 2020 I was just happy to be there doing something rather than locked down doing nothing. Anyway, it’s an impressive attraction, one which has everyone looking up and filled with anticipation. Greg Betza ©2023 ..read more

Decided after a long hiatus to join one of the online zoom drawing sessions. A little rust, but eventually I felt like myself after about 3 hours. It was like being in the gym after a long time off. Happy I did it! Here is a favorite detail from one of the drawings. Greg Betza ©2023 ..read more

This will probably be my last drawing of 2022. I figured since most of my contributions this year were drawings of my surroundings, well the plants that surrounded me more specifically, why not end it with a slightly larger exploration of just that. It’s been a tough year for many and I hope the coming year will bring you all that you dream of and hope for. Thank you for your continued support of our studio and the one drawing a day community! Near the Plaza
One Drawing A Day
by Veronica

Going through my studio, I came across this little drawing I made near the Plaza Hotel about 25 years ago.  In those days this is what old men looked like – you almost never see anyone wearing these kinds of hats anymore. I was also tickled to notice that the two tourists behind him were looking at a map, a pre-smart phone relic. One of the things I tell my students about reportage drawings is that they become a kind of time capsule of everyday life ..read more
