When I am wrestling with something in the studio, the best way to figure it out is to go out and draw from life! Nature never disappoints.   This will probably be my last drawing of 2022. I figured since most of my contributions this year were drawings of my surroundings, well the plants that surrounded me more specifically, why not end it with a slightly larger exploration of just that. Going through my studio, I came across this little drawing I made near the Plaza Hotel about 25 years ago.  In those days this is what old men looked like – you almost never see anyone wearing these kinds of hats anymore. I was also tickled to notice that the two tourists behind him were looking at a map, a pre-smart phone relic.
