I’m Having Another Baby!
Hannah Gale

And just like that, the cat is finally out of the bloody bag. As of today I am 23 weeks pregnant and feeling alright. I’m frazzled by pregnancy insomnia, the demands of a wild early-waking toddler without the respite of pre-school of grandparents, but also frazzled by the wild world rampaging on around us. It’s been an intense few months to say the least. But I’ve stopped throwing up. I’ve stopped having insanely inconvenient food aversions. And for the most part, I’ve been able to get out of bed, wash and put on a dress and attempt to enjoy this second trimester. Although, spoiler: the burst ..read more

Mini Reviews For Every Nintendo Switch Game I’ve Played
Hannah Gale

Whilst this post might be incredibly niche, lord almighty I am bloody pumped to write it. Nintendo reminds me of the happiest flickers of childhood memories. It reminds me of playing Diddy Kong Racing during summer holidays that felt as though they’d go on forever, and sharing a £10 Pokemon Red walkthrough guide with my brother and sister whilst spread out on the floor of our lounge. So when the Nintendo Switch launched back in March 2017, we knew we had to all chip in to get one. I picked it up from GAME the week after it was released, drove down to West Sussex, and we spent an entire weekend ..read more

Hannah Gale

Yes, they’re cute. And yes, they do give great cuddles every once in a while but lord almighty, they’re a tornado of complete and utter chaos. Here’s 21 things all parents of toddlers know to be true… 1. Grandparents are wildly wonderful for free childcare. They’re also wildly wonderful for giving your child an entire plate of chocolate as a snack and then declaring ‘oh you really liked that didn’t you? Let me get you some more.’ Cool, thanks, really excited for you to hand them back to me after you’ve doped them up on 143 Smarties. 2. Trying to work out your toddler’s sleep is a bit like tryi ..read more

Getting A Mortgage When Self-Employed: My Experience
Hannah Gale
by Hannah Gale

Before I’d even entered into the idea of getting a mortgage with a self-employed income, I’d assumed it would be hideously hard. I’d heard loads of horror stories about how you basically had to go through 17 people, pray for a miracle and then maybe sign your soul away. Having successfully secured a mortgage in spring 2020, I can confirm that either a) people were just exaggerating, b) things have changed a lot in recent years or c) I was just one of the lucky ones. I thought it might help any other self-employed workers who are hoping to jump on the property ladder in the coming months and ye ..read more

Hannah Gale

Ah yes, that glorious sunny, happy lull between spring and summer when you’d usually be buying cute new swimming cossies, desperately trying to find denim shorts that cover your bum cheek creases, and hunting out evening holiday dresses that are best accessorized with a tan and a large Aperol Spritz. Alas, this is in fact 2020 and everything is looking, ahem, a little bit different. So I thought I’d share my top summer 2020 fashion trends – as spotted from my favourite Instagram fashion muses, and online shopping spots. And the best thing about them all is that they’ll look bloody fantastic on ..read more

Hannah Gale

The past six weeks have seen our daily routines tipped upside down, trampled on, kicked around a bit and then accidentally stuck in the washing machine. It’s been one heck of an adjustment for the majority of us to attempt to navigate. I spoke to five amazing self-employed women about their current work set-ups. About how lockdown has changed their routine and what they’re able to achieve in a day, how they’re juggling childcare, and what they’re doing to keep their wellbeing in check. Medina Grillo @grillodesigns Medina, 31, is a DIY and Interiors blogger and author of the book ‘Home Sweet ..read more

The Insta Accounts That Will Help You Learn To Like Yourself
Hannah Gale

It’s no big news that we’ve become savvier than ever in the way we use social media – especially Instagram. Gone are the days of following accounts just because they look pretty, and in are the days of following accounts that add value to our lives in some way or another. I thought I’d share some of my favourite accounts at the moment. Specifically the accounts that help me find more positivity in my body image and journey to self-acceptance. The accounts that make me feel good, make me feel worthy, and the accounts that are helping to re-wire the way I see food and the way I look. I hope you ..read more

My Beauty Pie Purchases Ranked From Best To Worst
Hannah Gale

You’ve probably heard of Beauty Pie from your daily swiping through Instagram Stories, and unless you’re already a member, you might be feeling a little unsure about what it actually is. So first off, let me lay it out for you. Put simply, it’s a subscription beauty service. You pay a fee every month (between £5 and £20 depending on how many products you plan on buying), and that entitles you to a certain spending limit. So I pay £10 a month and with that I can buy £100 worth of product every month. It’s a rolling amount, so say I only spend a fiver one month, I’ll get a £195 limit the next mo ..read more

What’s It Really Like To Be Pregnant During A Pandemic?
Hannah Gale
by Hannah Gale

There’s no denying that the past few weeks (and even months) have been a particularly unsettling time for everyone. Not only have our daily routines been well and truly shaken up beyond anything we’ve experienced before, but we’re living without the physical closeness of our support network, and without an end date in sight. Whichever way you look at it, if it feels hard, it’s because it is. I spoke to three women who started coronavirus lockdown at different stages in their pregnancies. Here they share their stories, fears and hopes for the future. Sophie Bradbury-Cox, 32, is an administrato ..read more

Easy Recipe: Bean Chilli Enchiladas
Hannah Gale

I’m gonna throw this right out there – I think enchiladas are by far the best of the make-it-at-home Mexican food products. Don’t come at me with your fajita-shaped pitchforks. They’re crispy, they’re soggy, they’re saucy, they’re caked in melted cheese and cor, they just work so well as leftovers. What’s not to love? I’ve whipped up this recipe post with my favourite way to make the veggie version at home using kidney beans. Although of course a lot of this ingredient list can be tailored to suit what’s already in your cupboard – red onions work just as well, and black beans are probably more ..read more
