Night shifters scrolling Reddit: I need inspo. My co-worker and I just spent way too long clearing months worth of discrepancies. Tried searching funny memes and there weren’t any good ones. Thanks! submitted by /u/ftgtrtd444 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Go ED after failed ICU orientation?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice about next career steps. I’m currently working on a Neuro general care unit, but I’ll be moving in a few months for my personal life. My dream job since I was in high school was to be an ED RN. However, I have a big problem—my ICU orientation ruined my confidence. Here’s my case for myself: I was an EMT for 3 years (mostly IFT, but a lot of critical care calls), I will be finishing my first year as an RN in a month, and I often have all of my stuff done and can jump in to help coworkers with chaotic or stressful situations. I think my ADHD brain will t ..read more

I'm filmmaker based out of India. I've recently made a documentary film "God Vulture and Human' exploring the subject of Organ Donation from the perspective of Transplant Coordinators, highlighting their role in the process of organ donation, retrieval and transplantation. The film deals with the intensities of life and death, and an attempt to humanise the coordinators. The film's runtime is 50 minutes. Here's the trailer. I'm looking for places (all over the world) to conduct screenings for the relevant audiences such as the transplant coordinators themselves (and the aspirants), counsellor ..read more

Just got my PIN

Hi, I just moved to Glasgow with my husband who is an IMG in core psychiatry training. Had started my CBT back at home and completed my osce by June, got my pin by July. Most of my applications esp since may/June have been unsuccessful. I have attended a few physical interviews in care homes as well but nothing very promising either. I would appreciate insights on a change of approach to better my chances and I'd like to start supporting the family as soon as possible and I'm actually keen to start working because it's been a while. Thanks in advance for your comments:) submitted by /u/Brief ..read more

As of lately I feel like the happiness of life has gone out the window. I feel angry all the time. Not really any other emotions to be honest. This week at work has really drained me. I’m working in the ed of a level one trauma center and when it’s not the abuse from the homeless population or mentally unstable patients it’s from the frequent flyers. I’m sick of providing so much compassion/time/energy to people only to get shit on (not literally). I know it’s not their job to take my feelings into consideration but I’m just so tired of being treated so poorly after providing “exceptional car ..read more

I work at an assisted living facility for 3 months now. A new employee comes in not even a month after training a couple of days. I was recently called in my boss’s office because that so and so new employee reported some things I did wrong during med pass with her. At my job, there is two levels: Level 1 has approximately 60 patients for right now Level 2 has exactly 6 patients at the moment . So whenever we work together, the new employee always wants the to do level 1 to get used to the run and always has me do level 2. Being the kind person I am, I finished my pass and then proceed to hel ..read more

Sometimes my patient will ask me a question I have no idea about and I'll just tell them I'm going to check the chart. Then I pull up Google on the computer and search it up. ? submitted by /u/Strict_Photograph254 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Is it my fault when my pt falls?

So I work in ltc and our patients fall often, not like all the time but probably a few a week, it happens is what I’m trying to say. Whenever I share with people outside of work like family or friends they make some kind of comment like “on your watch?” And then make this kind of face ?, or I’ve had someone else say “and did you feel bad about that?”we do everything on our end to make them safe as possible but our residents aren’t supervised 24/7. Recently one of my patients had a pretty serious fall and it’s contributing to his rapid decline, I’m feeling kind of guilty that it happened when ..read more
