We are having a wet, misty, rainy day today and the temperature is a bit on the cool side. It is the perfect day to enjoy a hot bowl of soup. Loaded with plenty of beef, potatoes, vegetables and cheese, this cheeseburger soup recipe is a winner of a dinner recipe!
It is hearty and rich and delicious. I adapted the recipe from one I found on this page, The Best Blog Recipes. It looked really tasty. How could I resist! Their photos also looked amazing. I am a sucker for good food photos. They draw me in every time!
I did cut the recipe in half, however. The origina ..read more

I come from a family that is crazy about jam. We love jam. My mother used to make her own strawberry jam every year and then it would be used throughout the year to fill cakes, pop into cookies, and spoon over ice cream.
Not just for toast! In our house when I was growing up every layer cake baked was put together with a thick layer of jam in the middle, even chocolate cakes. It was a great way to dress up any cake mix cake. Especially a chocolate cake. A bit of strawberry or cherry jam in the middle was a real surprise and a bona fide ..read more

I noticed this recipe for Chicken with Peppers on Pinterest a few weeks ago and pinned it to use at some future time. It looked fabulous!
I adapted the recipe from original one found on Moorlandseater. It comes from a cookery book by food writer Claudia Roden entitled The Food of Italy, published in the early 1990s. It is known to be an old, old Roman dish and the flavor is said to be exceptional, largely due to the slow cooking over low heat.
I love it when you can take relatively few ingredients and apply simple cooking methods to them, wi ..read more

One thing I really loved about living in the U.K. were the Chip Shops. There was one in almost every neighborhood, selling a variety of fast foods. Normally they will sell fish and chips (fries) of course, but they also sell quite a few other things.
They sell fish and chips, of course, but many also sell Kebabs (Very similar to a Donair), small meat pies, battered sausages, Savloy (a type of smoked sausage), burgers, and fried chicken as well as a variety of Chinese dishes (in some but not all).
Chip shops were also called Chippy's, and Takeaways. I re ..read more

Sundays seem to roll around really quickly don't they! On Sundays I usually like to share my Meals of the Week with my readers. Everything that I have enjoyed over the past seven days for my Main Meals. All of the recipes and menu suggestions. That's a whole lot of tasty going on.
As a person who lives on her own, I have challenged myself to eat proper meals every night and to cook for myself whenever possible. I do tend to eat out once a week, with my father and sister, and most Sundays I have Sunday dinner at my sister's with the family. Other than th ..read more

I can't remember when I first noticed this recipe for lemon curd filled Hawaiian rolls, but I bookmarked it as soon as I saw it. I knew it was something I really wanted to make. It looked very easy and delicious.
I love lemon anything and the idea of a sweet roll filled with lemon curd really set my tastebuds to tingling. I don't know about you, but lemon curd is one of my absolute favorite things on the planet! I could gobble it up with a spoon and sometimes do.
Shhh . . . let this be our little secret.

I had seen a video on Stella Drivas' Instagram the other day for what looked to be incredibly delicious chicken! I am always looking for new ways to cook chicken. I like to try new things and get bored of doing things the same way all the time.
I like my food to be new and exciting. This looked incredible. Delicious. Moist. Full of fresh Mediterranean flavors. I just had to try it!! Today was the day!
The recipe involved making a simple marinade, which is divided. A portion of it is used to marinate your chic ..read more

I found myself with some overripe bananas and wanted to do something with them in the baking department. I had exactly enough to make a small batch recipe of this Banana Bread Cake Recipe that I had found on a blog called Together as Family.
It looked delicious and to be honest I did not and could not use a full sized cake, so I just cut everything in half and made an 8-inch square cake rather than a 9 by 13-inch cake.
I also opted for a plain vanilla buttercream frosting than a cream cheese frosting. I am probably one of the few people around that don't really enjoy cream cheese fro ..read more

I decided to cook another recipe from a recipe magazine I have had for a while called Quick & Simple Cooking for Two, from Hearst Magazines. I am trying to use these things as much as possible, or else what is the purpose in buying them!
The recipes in the magazine are all for two people, but I have to say that they are very generous servings. At least every one that I have cooked so far has been quite generous.
They have also been very easy and quick to make as well, which is always a bonus with me. I had enough of complicated cooking when I worked as a Che ..read more

True to form the week has flown past and here we are at another Sunday, another Meals of the Week Post. I have been doing this for about a year now and these weekly round ups have become something that I really enjoy doing each week.
I am determined to cook myself decent meals even though I find myself living on my own. I don't ever want to be that person who indulges in overly processed premade meals and takeaways. Although these past few weeks I have eaten out twice a week. (NOT normal.) Usually I do eat out once a week with my ..read more
