Argentinian Winery, Finca Ambrosia, has partnered with Aberfeldy for the new edition of its Wine Cask Collection. Aberfeldy 21 Year Old Malbec Cask Finish is its first partnership between a malt master and a winemaker. Distilled on November 14, 2021, the spirit matured for over two decades in a combination of Sherry and Bourbon re-fill barrels and wooden hogsheads. The Aberfeldy 21 Year Old is then finished for about eight months in Malbec French Oak barrels from Finca Ambrosia. Actor and musician Jamie Foxx purchased what was then Brown Sugar Bourbon from Washington State-based Heritage Distilling in 2021 and has revamped the recipe and packaging for the bourbon, which is now called Brown Sugar Blend (BSB). Foxx now owns the brand as part of a collaboration with Texas-based spirits incubator Wes Brands. BSB was noted in its previous life for its sweet taste evoking brown sugar and cinnamon notes and is bottled at 35% alcohol by volume [70 proof]. Iowa-based Templeton Distillery has released a bourbon called Fortitude – their first non-rye whiskey product since opening six years ago in the town of Templeton, Iowa. Templeton Fortitude is produced with a mash bill of 55% corn, 40% rye and 5% malted barley, matured in first-fill American oak barrels, bottled at 46% alcohol by volume [92 proof] and is said to contain notes of black pepper, butterscotch, caramel, citrus and vanilla. Glenmorangie has released a 25-year-old Scotch whisky single malt – Glenmorangie Pommard Cask Finish – but will only be available in the UK…for now. Glenmorangie Pommard Cask Finish was finished in Pommard casks in 2008, bottled at 51.8% [103.6 proof] and is said to offer notes of apples, cherries, ginger, lemons and plums. Michter’s distillery is releasing the 2024 batch of their vaunted 10-year-old bourbon after initially withholding its release in 2022 due to low supply and has now released it two years in a row. Michter’s Distillery initially withheld release of the 2022 batch as the distillery managed the low supply stock and released the 10-year-old rye instead in early 2023.
