It has been almost 7 months since Hurricane Ian visited Southwest Florida and we are making progress in our recovery each and every day. A lot of work happens behind the scenes and we are incredibly proud of the team that has helped us get to where we are. This October, the Southwest Florida Pickleball Pro League will hold an exhibition at Sundial. The free event is an opportunity to watch the pros battle it out on the courts. The league is made up of 25 pros, including nationally ranked, gold medal winners, and US Open and USA Pickleball National Champions. The 2022 USTA Southwest Florida Clay Court Championships will return to Sundial next month for three days of USTA-sanctioned competition to include Men’s and Women’s Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles for NTRP-rated divisions 3.5-4.0. Sunday, August 7, 2022, is National Lighthouse Day and the perfect time to celebrate our very own Sanibel Lighthouse. Located on the eastern-most point of the island, the Sanibel Lighthouse broke ground in 1884 thanks to $50,000 granted by Congress to the petitioning settlers of the island (approx. $1.5 million in today’s dollars). Their hope was that a lighthouse would make the island settlement easier to find and help the local settlers increase trade opportunities.
