I messed up

In the heat of a wrestling tournament where I was officiating, my emotions were tested when a coach's behavior crossed the line from heckling to outright aggression. Despite my efforts to maintain composure, the coach's hostile actions escalated to a point where he threw objects, including his phone, directly at me. Feeling threatened and disrespected, I reached a breaking point and reacted impulsively by delivering a swift punch in self-defense. The gym fell silent in shock as onlookers witnessed the unexpected altercation. While I deeply regret resorting to physical force, the coach's behav ..read more

How was I supposed to pass tryouts in high school?

My biggest disappointments in life was never playing high school sports, and I don’t understand how I was supposed to make the team. I worked hard and practiced only to get cut. I wasn’t fit or athletic before high school, and I was competing against kids who wrestled since 5. The gap in experience and talent was so big that it was just too late to close it. I really wish my parents signed me up for something when I was young, but it is too late now submitted by /u/Super_Ad7989 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Like the title says, i have to pee in the cup thing at the start of next season to see if i was drinking water or not for my body fat percent to be calculated. Is it like a universial thing or it it up to the school? Would i get in trouble if it came back positive for anything? I dont do steroids btw. submitted by /u/Kayom1528 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Ways to stop from overheating/feeling sick when training in a hot gym

I know that this should be a question for a doctor, and I will ask a doctor soon. Yesterday was my first day back wrestling after a light injury, I was feeling sick while wrestling and I’m pretty sure I was overheating. The gym is also very hot. This wasn’t a problem last season when I trained in a colder gym. Since I’m gonna keep training during summer and it’s gonna be super hot since I live in Texas. I’ve always been sensitive to heat and this has happened before when I train in hot weather. I was wondering if anyone here has a similar issue to me and is willing to give me some tips to ove ..read more

Calling coaches for advice

I wrestled growing up and through high school, but coaching is another beast. As I prepare to have my own family and raise wrestlers I want to ensure they get the highest quality training. So I’m in the wrestling room for folk and spring seasons trying to become the best coach I can be. I’m looking for any literature, certifications (like the CSCS), studies, anything to better prepare me to provide the highest value to the wrestling room. I’m sure 90% of coaching is learning on the job, I’m looking to supplement that. submitted by /u/cleito0 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Double leg head movement
Reddit - Wrestling

Is there any specific head movement for the attacking wrestler when performing double leg takedown? I have seen some people perform it with their head moving like high crotch (head moves and pushes opponent) but to me I feel like going straight through the opponent and grabbing the legs is enough (i.e. head movement isn't that important in double leg). Any thoughts? submitted by /u/eaglesdensity [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Our national championship is coming up. It will be a multiple day tournament and the athletes will be weighed every morning. I was wondering what kind of food you guys would recommend that they efficiently can fill up their energy levels and still not put on too much weight. Please don't shy away from explaining in detail why you would or wouldn't for go for certain foods. Thnx in advance. submitted by /u/NextSnowflake [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
