I’m trying to get into more sports. My main sports that I watch are basketball and football, but I’ve never really seriously followed wrestling because there wasn’t a league on the level of the NFL or the NBA.
I wrestled all four years of high school in the Philadelphia suburbs, and then I wrestled one year at a Division III school here in PA. I guess I could root for my Alma mater, but I’m really looking more to get into a Division I school. It always frustrated me that the only option for wrestlers after college was the Olympics, but I guess until someone decides to start a wrestling league ..read more

Hey guys! Last week I shared that me and a friend are thinking about creating a new "Wrestling Management Software" and our survey got over 100 responses!
At the request of u/that_uncle here are some of the things we learned.
Demographics:
We collected responses from r/Wrestling, r/bjj, Wrestling Coaches Facebook Group, and personal contacts in the wrestling community.
Of our respondents, we had a fairly even spread of experiences when it comes to wrestling.

I have the choice to wrestle either 130 and 124, I’m 127 rn but now I can’t drink or eat anything and I’ve been sick the last few days. The weigh ins are tn and the thing says that you can jus bump up if u miss weight. I’ve checked the brackets and both brackets have equal amount girls none that ik and next week I’m going to fs states where u could also qualify. I’m also not sure if I’m even going to Fargo because my parents still can’t get a flight there yet even if I do qualify. Should I jus bump up or stick it out to try to make it

So I wrestled middle and high-school with a bit of college, and now I coach for a local high school. All of my experience and what I was taught tells me that collar ties are good for briefly beating on the head/setting up a move, but you should never stay in collar ties because you make yourself vulnerable to alot of stuff like high-crotch, shucks, ducks, and standing Russian ties. My experience and watching the kids I coach wrestle reinforces this line of thought for me. So why is it that at the higher levels of wrestling we see undeniably stellar wrestlers spending so much time in collar ti ..read more
