Round One of The New Japan Cup continues with another empty arena show.
Suzuki-Gun (Minoru Suzuki, El Desperado, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, & DOUKI) b. Yuji Nagata, Yota Tsuji, Yuya Uemura, & Gabriel Kidd when Desperado pinned Tsuji with a Pinche Loco – Of course, the heels attacked before the bell because they’re jerks like that. They worked over Uemura until Nagata got the hot tag. During the fray, Tsuji tagged in and a multi-man brawl broke out. Desperado hit Tsuji with the Pinche Loco to get the pin.
SANADA p. Ryusuke Taguchi with a roll-up – The two spent several minutes feeling each oth ..read more

New Japan is back with its second night of the New Japan Cup tournament. The winner will face IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Champion Tetsuya Naito at Dominion for both titles.
Taiji Ishimori s. Gabriel Kidd with a Yeslock – Ishimori came to the ring dressed like Shredder from Ninja Turtles. The two took their time feeling each other out in the opening minutes. Ishimori took control and dominated until Kidd countered a top rope movie with a dropkick, Brian Pillman style. Kidd made his comeback and put Ishimori in a Boston Crab. Ishimori escaped and quickly put on a Yeslock to get the su ..read more

The Quarter-Finals of the New Japan Cup Tournament begin here. We’re down to eight wrestlers remaining from the original 32. There are still a lot of viable possibilities. And given the current situation, it would not be too shocking to see an underdog or dark horse win the entire tournament since crowds will still be sparse when fans are let in.
Hiromu Takahashi p. Tomohiro Ishii – This is an interesting matchup given Hiromu is a Junior Heavyweight and Ishii is built like a tank. Takahashi tried to go on the offensive early but only succeeded in bouncing off Ishii. The two traded chops and st ..read more

We are officially into Round Two of The New Japan Cup. The original 32-man bracket is down to 16. There were some pretty big upsets, including Taichi beating Hiroshi Tanahashi and
Taiji Ishimori p. Yoshinobu Kanemaru with a Bloody Cross – Kanemaru attacked Ishimori right after Ishimori made it through the curtain. Since both guys are heels, that shouldn’t be surprising. After a brief battle on the floor, Ishimori recovered and took the match into the ring. Kevin Kelly brought up that in 14 matches, Ishimori has never beaten Kanemaru. The best Ishimori has done was a draw. Kanemaru grounded Ish ..read more
