Travel for Free: How to Maximize Your Credit Card Rewards

Want to know how to travel for free? Flights and hotel stays are usually the most expensive parts of travel, but it’s fairly easy to get one or both of those covered by changing one thing. Tip: Earn 60,000 bonus points through Chase with my referral link and 80,000 points through Amex with my referral. I’ve traveled to France, Greece, Japan (twice), Thailand, Argentina, and Mexico without ever paying for a flight. I’ve stayed in a few fancy hotels I would usually have no business booking. And though I don’t travel quite as much as I used to, I can’t remember the last time I paid for a domestic ..read more

Buenos Aires Airbnb: Recoleta Neighborhood

I would recommend our Buenos Aires Airbnb to anyone looking to stay in the beautiful Recoleta neighborhood. You can find the listing here. We booked our trip to Argentina a little too close to our departure, which left fewer options and deals for our top hotel choices. We originally intended to stay in Palermo, on the advice of others. Once I saw how much higher the prices were than usual, due to our travel window, I started looking elsewhere. We settled on the quieter but very chic neighborhood of Recoleta. I found some inexpensive hotel options that were just fine, but decided to check out t ..read more

Walk with Penguins in Argentina

Have you ever dreamed of walking with penguins in Argentina? Does the idea of putting on a striped blazer and a bow tie to do a little choreographed dance with them, like in Mary Poppins, speak to your soul? Then this is the post for you. At least for the walking with penguins in Argentina part. I can’t really help you with the second part, because it turns out that penguins are better at napping in the sun and screaming into the sky than they are at dancing. Keep reading to see how you can walk amongst the penguins in Argentina, with a quick trip to beautiful Ushuaia. Argentina Penguins: expe ..read more

Under The Weather: DIY Raincloud Headpiece

On week two of being under the weather, I was lying in bed in a hazy, Nyquil induced state. Overhead, a literal raincloud was hanging over me. Like I said, I was a little hazy. But it gave me an idea. I could barely get out of bed let alone work on anything creative, but on week three and in almost there recovery, I decided to turn that raincloud into a DIY raincloud headpiece. And then I shot my first real self portrait of 2023. Besamé beaded lashes, “Marlene” wig , vintage jumpsuit, Blair Imani x Fempower Beauty “Self” lip set How I made my DIY raincloud headpiece I used things I already ha ..read more

A stranger’s souvenirs

As much as my life has changed in the fifteen years since I started this blog, one thing remains the same: I’m just as obsessed with vintage and and thrifting as ever. Another thing that hasn’t changed: I assign meaning and memories to things that belonged to the complete strangers before me. Estate sale shopping might by my favorite pastime of all, but if I think too much about it, I get overwhelmed with sadness. But it’s not just sadness — it’s nostalgia that doesn’t belong to me. It’s completely made up or pieced together from the items I see in the hour or so that I’m wandering through som ..read more

Bewitched corset from the Most Ardently collection, by Katie Pritchard Designs and Styled by Magic. Wig by Sarah Necia. (She also made this beauty, my favorite!) Chelsea of Styled by Magic teamed up with Katie Pritchard to make their Most Ardently collection, a romantic capsule collection inspired by Pride and Prejudice. They graciously sent me the Bewitched corset and Sheer Romance dress, and right before I got very sick, I did a quick little photo and video shoot in my new pieces. You can see the video here. I love the little details on the corset, with the words “You have bewitched me body ..read more

Permission to be a Poser

Do kids still call each other posers? Is that still a thing, or have we evolved past dictating what someone else’s “true style” is and what it should always be? My experience of current day teen life is only viewed through the lens of tiktok — or what my niece tells me when I ask her questions like an out-of-touch old lady — but it seems like the newer generations are much more accepting of personal style evolution and self discovery. Of course, online and in real life are two different things. And no longer having that hard separation between school and personal life, thanks to social media ..read more

4 Holiday Party Ideas that are sure to be a hit

I never thought I’d be blogging about holiday party ideas, but here I am. Now that I have room to entertain, I realize that I love it. There are 4 things to know about me when it comes to hosting a party: 1. I love a theme 2. and decorating 3. I don’t have cooking skills (or…I have never really tried). 4. and I hate cleaning up large messes. That all means, I LOVE hosting people for the holidays. But my main job is to make things look pretty and give guests something fun to do. It’s Bobby’s — or the local pizza parlor’s — job to keep them fed beyond the hors d’oeuvres I put out. And I put a cl ..read more

Pink Christmas Decor part 2

Pink Christmas Decor: Our Bedroom Over the past four or five years, I started adding more and more Christmas decor to our room. Come to think of it, that’s likely where my pink Christmas collection started. Traditional red and green feels out of place in our otherwise soft blush bedroom decor. This year, I took a simpler approach to the pink Christmas decor in our bedroom: less tchotchkes, more garland. We added a few strands of pre-lit, flocked garland and a wreath that matched our tree. Just those few things — which took mere minutes to hang — made the whole room feel so festive and cozy ..read more

Witchy Wallflowers: Charlotte, The Regency Witch.

This Halloween, I pursued a passion project I’ve been wanting to tackle: a “Witchy Wallflower” series. I’ve long dreamed of making up witches of different aesthetics, with matching backgrounds to reflect them blending in with society. Each witch would have a different back story and style, with handmade clothing and hats to reflect their particular aesthetics. Spoonflower was the perfect partner for this, so I made a pitch and asked them if they’d like to partner. To my delight, they said yes! For this particular witch, I wanted to make a witch bonnet but have no real millinery skills. So, I ..read more
