Background: I have a strong theater background from elementary school, where I participated in many productions. After a break, I'm now in high school and interested in rekindling my acting skills. My friend told me about an open-audition county musical happening in half a year. Question: How can I best prepare for a successful audition? What specific skills should I focus on? Note: I was in SOTA in elementary i’m no longer am. submitted by /u/Mazelldev [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Which agency department should I apply to?

Some agencies have separate submission emails for commercial, print, VO, film, etc. I know the answer seems obvious (the one you want to be in), but as a relatively new actor, should I start out with commercials and work up to film/TV or is that just not how it works? submitted by /u/DIYBoysenberry [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Is it possible to become an actor with autism?

Being autistic makes it rather hard for me to gain momentum due to lack of social skills but it’s easy for me to act as someone else because that’s basically what I’ve been doing my whole life. I’ve been told that my acting is “unnatural” so I’ve been doing some activities to move my body and face more. I think that aspect has improved quite a bit but I still get told that my voice is flat toned; I can hear the change in vocal tones when other people do it, but I struggle with replicating it. submitted by /u/Spare-Camera4145 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
