The Coming US Elections
World Politics 101

It is quite thought-provoking to see what is ahead in America. I wrote about it on April 1st, 2023 in the article Will America Disqualify Itself Again? We are seeing one of the worst effects of poor education and a lack of understanding of why world news is important to know a bit about. Some of the stupidities being said by a rogue rebel such as Trump would be disqualified by anyone with an active bullshit radar just decades ago. Nowadays, people are moved by oneliners in an era of #SoMe... The Continued Debate About the Age of the President Anyone with a good memory will remember how Reagan ..read more

Democracy Needs Maintenance
World Politics 101

When we say, or hear, the word 'democracy' we have a tendency to take it for granted. We forget that it is something that needs maintenance. There are always considerations about what can be done better. Democracy has different meanings from country to country. Electoral College Not Found Anywhere Else The Electoral College, where votes are 'vonverted' into electors who then confirm a presidential election is something American. For the rest of us it seems less democratic that a state containing 10 electors means the winner gets ALL 10 electors when he wins over his opponent with even just ON ..read more

Will America Disqualify Itself Again?
World Politics 101

The very thought that Trump would run for office again should be absolutely terrible for ANYONE with moral values. We saw what happened the last time he held the presidency, and the question is whether America will disqualify itself again? It doesn't matter whether we disagree on minor political aspects. That can be good grounds for sound debate. What does matter is the democratic foundation of no one being ABOVE the law. No one should be able to incite violence and remain unpunished! The January 6th Attack on Congress It cannot be denied that the January 6th attack on Congress was disgracefu ..read more

The Year 2022 May End Up Being the Craziest Ever!
World Politics 101

Normally, I wouldn't use an exclamation point in a heading, but let's be honest: this year has been way beyond crazy. Starting in February, we saw the Russian INVASION of Ukraine in continuation of the annexation of Crimea in 2014/15. Furthermore, the United Kingdom got new Prime Ministers - plural. One lady won the competition promising things that ended up being destructive for their economy, and the other candidate who in fact warned that this would happen then got the baton. All culminating in former President Donald J Trump announcing he will run again in 2024... Politics Is an Insane Bu ..read more

The Overturn of Roe vs Wade
World Politics 101

The overturn of Roe vs Wade is being praised by so-called pro-life people. Let's be mindful that the right to choose NOT to complete a pregnancy IS an important aspect of equality - and now it was an important aspect of equality that is no longer available. I wrote this on Twitter: #America is losing the war on values. Being pro-choice is a matter of recognizing a woman's right to choose. Where is the responsibility of males who go spread their seed without ANY regard for the women? That is only VERY RARELY discussed. It's time the so-called pro-life 1/2 2/2 people grew up, and started to THI ..read more

Ted Cruz - Sometimes It's Better to Keep Silent...
World Politics 101

If it wasn't so sad, it would actually be comic... Ted Cruz blaming Democrats and their policies, and failing to relate to the obvious elephant in the room: the NRA and their lobbying for weapons. You can see the interview on YouTube by clicking this link: https://youtu.be/rd6UgZyut7A No private citizen needs automatic or assault rifles. The constitutional ammendment on bearing a firearm was never intended as an instrument of augmented weaponization. It was intended as a tool of self-defense in a country where law enforcement was often not just around the corner. Republicans Need to Join in a ..read more

Important Lesson From the Ukraine Invasion
World Politics 101

Photo source: Sunday Times When I see the atrocities being committed by Russian soldiers in Ukraine, it diminishes my hope for peace even once Putin is no longer in power. There seems to be some "psychopathic gene" in the way they will inflict pain on others just to survive. Decades of oppression under Communist dictatorship has instilled a bitterness and apathy that must be taken seriously if we want to understand why things aren't happening as we would expect from a western perspective. Let's Be Blunt! IF the events had happened in any other country, the people would have risen ..read more

2022 May Be a Year of Big Changes
World Politics 101

At the end of last year, I asked the question: "2021 Draws to an End - Will 2022 Be Better?" A question that is typical at the end of any year... Already, in the month of March, the world is faced with a Russian invasion of Ukraine. I think many of us were puzzled by the motivation of Russian President Vladimir Putin who claims this is an attempt at liberating Ukraine. None of us can see that need. We see this as an invasion, and now journalists are faced with long prison terms if they call this a war or an invasion. What should we call it, when another nation decides to 'take' control of ano ..read more

Will Republicans Grow Up Before 2024?
World Politics 101

A year ago, I wrote the article Incitement to Violence From a Sitting President - Who Saw That Coming? after the insurgence against the US Congress. Now, a year later, the Republicans are still confused about how to handle the situation, as Donald J Trump still appears to be considering running again... WHY Do They Keep That Terrible Nightmare Alive? Many have speculated as to why they keep that terrible nightmare alive. Why haven't they taken a clear stand against lawlessness? We all know what would have happened if some important icons were still alive. I am obviously thinking of both former ..read more

2021 Draws to an End - Will 2022 Be Better?
World Politics 101
by
2y ago
As 2021 draws to an end, the main question we are probably all asking ourselves is: Will 2022 be better? We all remember the main points during the year. America got a new President, a COP-meeting was held with somewhat disappointing results compared with what we all anticipated, and Afghanistan was left alone even after much energy had gone into initial training of their armed forces... We Need More Focus on Climate Change It is no secret that we need more focus on climate change. Politicians are far too hesitant when it comes to developing policies that COULD actually make changes. It is so ..read more
