I struggle with selling it, and explaining exactly why people should care. Even with reports I have a difficult time convincing folks of the value. I would LOOOVVVVVEEE to know how your discussions go around these things. submitted by /u/pokepoke [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hello! I’m writing this on the way back home from the office because my own anxiety really gets to me, but as title says - I know it varies from agency and in house and there are several factors. Just curious on the agency management side, if there are any tell tale signs you won’t be getting a full time offer? To preface, Im post grad with 2 infernships (both 1 year) and this current one. I’m at a pretty big NYC agency interning for the spring. Started end of Feb, ending end of May. I’m actually the only young guy (3m/60w ratio) and sometimes it feels like I’m definitely left out socially bu ..read more

Public relations for local government entities, seeking advice

Hello! I work for a local government and seek advice from seasoned professionals in the field. Having served in a specialist role for a decade, I'm eager to advance my career, but I do not know where to begin. I have spoken to a couple of mentors along the way, and recently I have been told the advice: to listen more, and to ask questions to the management of my department. With this, I have a few questions: Where should I start with listening? Currently, I'm subscribed to both local and national newsletters. How do you manage to stay informed amidst busy schedules? Additionally, working with ..read more

Finding Audience Numbers

Hi everyone! I’m doing a mock PR campaign plan for one of my college classes. I’m trying to find information on what the audience/viewership numbers are for local and county wide news stations. My professor said from her experience it’s usually in the about section in their website. I’ve clocked through three different stations’ about pages and I can’t, for the life of me, find this information. Any tips on how or where to go to find audience/viewership information?? Thank you for any help! submitted by /u/Kayish97 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi everyone, I'm joining the corporate world in the coming months (I'm graduating college and just signed an offer with a small PR agency!), and I was wondering if anyone had any tips for someone who comes from a content marketing background at a startup, and then in-house at a biotech company. I worked full time during undergrad, never in PR. I'm curious to hear about what I can do to be a good AAE. What can I do to improve while I'm there? Is there anything you wish someone told you about when you first started in PR? How can I make the most of my time there? More of a broader question, but ..read more

Anyone know of any PR firms that are fully remote and allow employees to work from anywhere? I'm looking for a position that wouldn't be determined by my location. Unfortunately, I'm finding very few options so far! submitted by /u/not_defaultusername [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

How much to charge as freelancer

I currently work in house as a publicity manager for a non profit theater. I have media connections within the arts and culture world, and experience in strategy, press releases, etc. I’m interested in transitioning into freelancing, but more focused on BIPOC artists. There is one new music artist (DJ) who I’ve reached out to who is up and coming in the major city I live in. I want to start working with her as a publicist but I’m not sure how I would even go about charging. She’s fairly new in the game but getting a lot traction, and given that I’m fairly new in the music publicity world, I w ..read more

Tips on looking for a PR firm for a small ecom business

I'm looking for a PR firm to help promote my small business. We sell a variety of buzzy food products, have genuine expertise we can offer, and are enrolled in affiliate programs. Our main interest is getting into listicles "top 10 gifts for fathers day" etc. Budget would max out at $2000/month, which seems to be too low for a lot of firms. But ideally we'd like to spend even less for no-frills PR s99pr and Chic Execs are two options we've looked at. Does anyone have any other suggestions, tips on what to look for generally, or ways of finding a good fit? submitted by /u/Apprehensive_Sky7896 ..read more
