Tell us about yourself, Greg I grew up in a small town in northeast Nebraska, the youngest of eleven children in a pretty devout Catholic family. I graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1986 with a degree in business administration and then worked in the human resources field for five years before being hired as the director of pro-life activities for the three bishops of Nebraska. My path to pro-life work started in 1973 when my mom started one of the first local pro-life chapters in Nebraska following Roe v. Wade. Having grown up in a home where pro-life activism was vibrant, I got i ..read more

Defining the Relationship… As Friends

Defining the Relationship… As Friends When I was in college I lived in a Catholic guy’s house for the men of my campus ministry. We lived not just as roommates who shared the faith, but truly strived to live in an intentional community. We had a rule of life for our house which involved prayer, service, and fellowship. Our campus ministry didn’t have a Newman Center so the house effectively operated as such. After my first year in the house, and after two and a half years of the household existing, our landlady was generous enough to build a new house next door for the women of our campus mini ..read more

Ancient, Flawed Ideologies That We Still See Today
The Culture Project International | Inviting Our Culture To Be Fully Alive

My choice to study the classics (ancient history and languages) is a gift that keeps on giving. I can read languages that nobody speaks anymore. I now have pen pals that lived well before sliced bread was even a dream. I know how to tie a toga. Toga party heroics aside, I’ve gained something much more valuable from these studies: a glimpse into some ancient wisdom about the human experience. I find myself amazed at how much the wisdom of people long gone still applies to our lives today. Being thousands of years removed from these poets, statesmen, and historians, with our smartphones replacin ..read more

What Does Chastity Actually Mean?
The Culture Project International | Inviting Our Culture To Be Fully Alive
by Kathryn Hallinan

Traditional. Pure. Restrictive. These are the words the culture uses to label chastity.  Even amongst Christians though, many of us lack a full understanding of this beautiful virtue. I’ve found that “chastity” oftentimes is one of those buzzwords that gets thrown around in Catholic circles, leaving many young people confused and without a clear path to direct their sexual desires.  So, what does chastity actually mean? To give you a clear definition of chastity – chastity is the virtue which aligns the level of intimacy in a relationship with the level of commitment in a relationshi ..read more

Who Told You That You Were Naked?
The Culture Project International | Inviting Our Culture To Be Fully Alive

There’s a picture somewhere from my childhood of me with 3 friends at a kid’s pool party. Despite how long ago it was, despite having forgotten the names of those girls, I can never shake that image from my mind. At a certain point, I stopped looking at the joy on our faces. All I could look at was one thing: the three of them in their bikinis versus me in my swimsuit with more coverage. How old were we? Like 5 years old. But as I started growing up. I realized that there was a deep insecurity about my body lurking saying, “skinny girls wear bikinis, and fat girls wear tankinis and one pieces ..read more

Break Up Survival 101
The Culture Project International | Inviting Our Culture To Be Fully Alive
by Clare Hall

There’s no sugarcoating it, break-ups suck. Like a LOT. You had so many dreams and hopes for the relationship, memories built up, perhaps even families and friends intertwined. Sometimes the split is mutual, sometimes it suddenly comes out of left field, sometimes there can be dishonesty and other people involved and it can be really, REALLY messy. Regardless of how a relationship ends, it hurts. And it’s not fun. And you can feel like your whole world has come crashing down. But it’s survivable. When it comes to handling a break up, there is no one-size-fits all magic guide that will cause th ..read more

Do You Need To Have Everything Figured Out?
The Culture Project International | Inviting Our Culture To Be Fully Alive
by Adam Kruze

In going out and giving talks, one of the more common questions I get is how do I figure everything out? How do I figure out what kind of job I want, if this is the right person, if I’m on the right path?  I want to start this blog with DO NOT FEAR! If you’re encountering this question a lot and it gives you all kinds of stress and anxiety, I would invite you to take a step back. Breath, have a cup of tea or cocoa, and relax.  The truth is: You’ll never have everything figured out. No matter how hard you can try, you’ll never be able to deduce or plan everything that’s going to happe ..read more

What Does It Mean To Be Strong?
The Culture Project International | Inviting Our Culture To Be Fully Alive
by Trace Flax

When you think of “strength,” what comes to mind? A lot of us probably think of someone like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. That dude is jacked. On a good day he can bench 450 lbs. That’s the weight of a fully-grown male tiger. The Rock’s physical strength is no joke. People who have recently watched Encanto might think about Luisa, who could pick up a whole church and move it. Strength is how much weight you can carry, how much you can handle. Another thing that may come to mind when you think of “strength” is what you’re good at. Talents or skills that you excel at. My strength is music, sports ..read more

This Goes Out to our Extended Family Members…
The Culture Project International | Inviting Our Culture To Be Fully Alive
by Caroline

I am not the girl who gets asked “how are you still single?” Instead, I get asked, “why are you not doing more to put yourself out there?” Both questions just grind my gears, but there’s at least an implicit compliment in the first question that doesn’t even exist in the second. Is anyone else tired of essentially being told it’s your fault for not having a significant other, even though you’d like to? Even though you try, try, try to, as my mom likes to say, increase the flow of people through your life, hoping one might finally take interest? Welcome to my new campaign to end the use of thes ..read more

Science and Faith
The Culture Project International | Inviting Our Culture To Be Fully Alive
by Matthew Dolinar
2M ago
Science has been the topic of fierce discussion lately within our culture these past two years. I have often heard very much opposed opinions from people who both claim to believe in science. It begs the question, what is science’s role in our lives, and what can it tell us about ourselves? To start us off, we need to get to the heart of what is meant by science. Modern science is widely understood as a structured process in which man tests his empirical knowledge through controlled experiments and analysis. In other words: Start with an idea/hypothesis, create a controlled experiment to test ..read more
