Hey, Friends! We hope your 2024 year is off to a great start!  You may have received the e-mail notice that our CSA is returning to Long Island this season.  We’re so excited to finally grow on our very own farmland as we celebrate our 30th year of CSA farming!  Our land is located in a private fertile valley along the Connecticut River in southern Vermont.  We were looking for farmland in a place that was pristine to grow food - free from water, soil and air contamination that unfortunately, has become all too common on Long Island.  We will be bringing ..read more

The beauty of this land is breathtaking. Pristine mountains shelter the valley on the west, and the mighty Connecticut River flows to the east. We’ve managed to clear another 25 acres of land this past tree season, so there will be more land to put into cover crop in anticipation of the vegetable production to come in 2024. Our days are filled with plans for greenhouses and a new wash/pack barn. It’s been 29 years since we started farming, but it’s never been on our own land and we’ve never had the chance to build infrastructure that truly fits our needs. It’s no wonder that we’re agonizi ..read more

A NEW SEASON AWAITS... Hello dear friends! What better day to send out news about the upcoming growing season than during a winter snow storm! We appreciate your patience as it's taken us a little more time than usual to figure out what our farm and CSA program will look like for the coming year. One of the farm parcels we've been renting for over a decade was sold at the end of 2021, which means that we will now be farming on a bit less than 1/2 of the land we've had in production all these years. Sometimes things happen for a reason, and this has certainly given us the opportunity to rethi ..read more

This is week #23 out of 25 weeks. Our CSA program ends the week before Thanksgiving this year. We're expecting a patchy frost to hit on Tuesday and Wednesday night this week. Luckily most of our crops in the fields can handle the dip in temperatures, and in fact, become sweeter from a little frosty nip! Cabbages, collards, kales turn some of their starches into sugars from exposure to freezing temperatures! This week's harvest Red Radicchio This chicory it is not too bitter, but can be cooked to remove any hint of bitterness if that's not something you prefer. Raw in a salad, it pairs very w ..read more
