About me: - 4yrs undergrad degree (BTech) - 5yrs of software engineering experience but none as a lead; Hence can’t apply for PMP (no referrals or testimonials) - Joining a college for MBA in 2 months Questions: 1. Is it too late for me to do CAPM now followed by PMP after 3 more years of workex? 2. Would workex and mba be enough as a substitute to this certification? submitted by /u/bplay1990 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

My undergrad is in aerospace engineering. I’m currently an active duty Air Force Officer in the developmental engineering/acquisitions career field. I wanna start working on a masters that will help me transition to a PM role, hopefully with a defense contractor, in a few years when I transition to the civilian side. I don’t want to spend any money so I am limited to the cost of tuition assistance. I have narrowed down my search to the below programs. Would love some feedback as to what will best help me secure a PM job! -online MBA, Troy University -online MS in Engineering Management, Unive ..read more

Originally wrote a long post but decided to keep it simple. I have a support/implementation role. Basically we help customers with their tech. I started off in support but quickly moved up to implementation. Our company has grown considerably and now we are doing more than ever before. Before this year my boss managed all the projects but he asked me to start running them at the end of last year. I said yes if it meant I would be doing less support and he avoided that question. They did a test run of a few projects with me as PM and it failed because I don't have enough time in my day to PM/I ..read more

I have recently started a new job. I'm quickly realizing the financial reporting I did previously was very basic. I'm panicking that this is above my abilities. There's no one to ask as I'm replacing someone. I'm just expected to move things forward. How do I learn this quickly? submitted by /u/yesil_green [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I use the paid Clickup plan and have some tasks, automations (Very few), but I noticed that after this update and in many subs, I saw reports of people complaining about this. Anyone who removed their projects or company from clickup and migrated to another tool? Which do you recommend? submitted by /u/eduuoliver [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

We should be able to do and share schetches, ideas, concepts, progression, budgets, notes, updates, info etc in that same platform. The must-haves are: around 15 internal and external need to be able to edit it unlimited notes(etc) the po ..read more

When is it time to go?

I've been contracting as an IT PM at a technology company for the last few years. Their governance and project processes are immature and turnover has traditionally been high in both projects and operations, sometimes making it difficult to get things done. I am about 60% of the way through a major project (software) and am seeing operational changes on the horizon that are going to further impede my project. (Resource management is unheard of, it's more of "Survival of the fittest" or "squeaky wheel gets the grease" here. Several members of my team including the archetect are difficult to de ..read more

Experience: 4 years apprentice 3 years journeyman 2 years foreman 2 years estimator 10 months assistant project manager For the last 10 months I’ve been assisting PM duties for the largest project in our company’s history. I thought estimating was a grind, but holy smokes.. PM-ing is a whole different beast. Every day my inbox gets more full than the day before, and unresolved issues continue to be unresolved. My long term tasks make little progress, while my entire day is spent attending job meetings, putting out fires, and babysitting deliverables. Never get anything early enough to “get ah ..read more

Invoicing Query

Hi All, Wondering if anyone could help me or provide me with some advice. I'm a PM predominantly in the IT/Healthcare field in the UK. I've relocated to Spain and will be working as a contractor for an Organisation in the UK (NHS Organisation). Does anyone have any information as to invoice modelling when working with the NHS and a general idea of what is the expected pay as a contractor? I know PM's are either B7 or B8a depending on location. So would assume it's somewhere around this area, possibly higher. Cheers in advance. submitted by /u/bigtony1989 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
