Free Design: Bobbin Work Tea Towel

Nothing says late summer like a beautiful sunflower! The Brother Free Design of the Month for September is a sunflower motif with a light fill, ideal for embellishment on a tea towel. I chose a monochromatic color scheme, stitching the design in one of my favorite Brother embroidery thread colors, Light Brown #323. To me, this color evokes a look that mimics what you might see on antique linens. A coordinating color of ribbon and cream-colored bobbin work stitchery give this ivory towel even more nostalgic charm. Of course, you can stitch the single-color design in any color you choose and the ..read more

Some crafting projects around the house don’t require an extensive timeline or huge budget. There are small, inexpensive projects that can be done to elevate your home and create an impactful moment. Doing the DIY project yourself allows you to customize the outcome in the way that fits your personal style. We have a vintage velvet couch in our home that I found at a local thrift store for only $10. When we bought it, it looked extremely tattered and was on its last leg. We tore apart the fabric and cushions and refurbished it into the blue velvet couch we have today. It’s absolutely beautiful ..read more

~Tabitha Sewer, Brother Sews Ambassador   Hey everyone! For this project, I wanted to take the time to write a blog post as more of an inspiration guide than my typical ‘How To’ posts. If you happened to come across my other custom socks blog post (all about vinyl designs!), you know that I wanted to come up with some ways to elevate some simple socks. I took a basic pair of socks and used crafting to turn it into a great custom project that’s fun, useful, and giftable to anyone!   I realize that not everyone may have access to a ScanNCut, so I wanted to write this inspirat ..read more

Embroidered Dickey The temperature is dropping, which means it’s time to layer up. Layering my wardrobe is one of my favorite things about Fall fashion. When it comes to layering buttons-ups under sweaters, however at times it can look kind of strange because of the bulky fabric underneath. If you think dickeys are out style, think again! I don’t care what anyone says, this invention is absolutely genius. Modernize it by customizing the dickey to your style. I plan on making tons of dickeys this year and hope that you’ll be joining me. SUPPLIES: Brother Stellaire Innovis Sewing Machine RTW Di ..read more

There are many different ways to achieve perfect placement for embroidery projects. One of my favorite tried and true methods involves using templates printed from PE-DESIGN software with the special Snowman embroidery positioning marker added to the center point of the design. Since a template represents the actual life-size image of a design, I can easily print one or more to preview the design, placing it on the fabric at the precise location for embroidery. The option to print the Snowman marker makes the template even more useful. The unique Snowman positioning marker combined with Brothe ..read more

Embroidered Bridal Denim Jacket

One of my favorite things about machine embroidery is the ability to customize gifts and projects. It’s a fun way to add color and personal design to garments like a jean jacket. Denim is an ideal fabric to embroider on, because the medium to heavy weight woven material does well with dense designs. With embroidered denim on trend, I wanted to share a tutorial on how to machine embroider on a jacket. Make these embroidered denim jackets for an upcoming wedding present for the bride (great for wedding photos), or gifts for the bridal party. There are so many ideas and ways to customize these DI ..read more

Truly, there is a hoop for every task! Many specialty hoops are available, making embroidery faster and easier too. This quick tip shows how versatile the clam shell style “M” hoop is to use. Designed for tubular style Brother embroidery machines, clamp frame “M”, Part #PRCLPM1, mounts from the back of the machine, attaching to arm “D.” This double sided 4-inch X 4-inch hoop has strong holding power with a rubber grip on one side to hold slippery materials and a second soft side that’s gentle on materials easily marred by “hoop burn.” Simply flip the top piece to switch between the two surface ..read more
