Looking for some support/guidance/reassurance. I just quit my nursing job of 2 years after being unbelievably burned out and well past my breaking point. I left with no plan, no job lined up. I just knew I had to get tf out of the hospital before my entire soul was sucked out of my body. I told my boss I needed more work-life balance and this wasn't a good fit for me. She told me she could see that from the very beginning which was actually quite validating. I'm on week 2 of being unemployed and the panic is starting to set in. I don't know what to do with my life. I have two degrees; biology ..read more

Been working in IT for.... i think 20 years now.
First it was 10 years customer support, after that it was customer support combined with onsite support (driving to a location to fix problems) and now it is system engineer on a location where i solve easy computer problems.
I know i can study and grow but i'm not even sure that i like IT anymore, my job is not repetitive as every day is different but the problems i can get are very easy to solve as i have the knowledge.
Anyone here who used to work in IT and switched jobs to something else? what was it like and what made you make this decisio ..read more

I (43M) am in and from the Philippines and I have been out of a job for almost 5 months already. In the last 4 years, I've been employed in roles related to cybersecurity (before I got to cybersecurity, I was a public school teacher).
But I haven't had the best of luck in my last 3 companies. In my third to the last job, I only lasted 3 months because I got fired due to non-compliance of company policy (which I personally disagree with). In my second to the last job, I got let go because of my probationary performance (which I don't agree as well). In my most previous job, I left after a mont ..read more

I (24F) recently started a new role at a small college campus, and was estatic as I love my position. I enjoy the work that I do and it is a small office which can make for close and personal connections. However, things began to take a turn when my boss started treating me as if I was incompetent because I am younger. When I first started I would sometimes state I am new, or I don't know let me find out and that would anger my boss. She wanted me to act like I knew everything and put on a different persona. As time went on I picked up on the close campus culture but relied heavily on my cowo ..read more

I have an extreme aversion to be contacted via text/call to my personal cell phone by coworkers/superiors about work, even during work hours.
I think it is because I have systems in place for email and memos and don’t want to have to search through my phone to check the status on things.
Is this a healthy work boundary or am I being a difficult coworker/employee?

I’ve been working as a remote freelancer for company since 2016. I work on retainer.
Since that time, I’ve been doing website maintenance. I also redesigned the website several times.
I found out someone at this organization, hires an outside, firm and redesigned the website. Well, let me tell you, I’m trying to get over the insult about this, but it’s really hard.
How do I not take this personally and let it be crushed to my ego? How do I let it go and not say anything to the person involved?
Because of it I did raise my fee which is a win.
But how do I let it t go?

I’m currently 27, (f) living with my parents and failed at my career. No jobs right now are hiring and I need to desperately get out and start doing things on my own. I’m considering joining the military because there’s options for deployment and it’ll help create discipline. Any suggestions are welcome

Hi all - I am feeling super unmotivated at my current job. I've been here for five years now and while it's stable and I should be grateful - I absolutely dread it. I am doing mind-numbing tasks and finish most of my work in less than an hour. I consistently get good reviews but I need to get out before I lose my mind. I have a Master's degree and I'm doing work that probably doesn't even need a Bachelor's in reality. I'm 38 and have been applying to so many jobs with no reply. I find myself taking days off and making excuses to leave early but there's only so much of this I can do.
To top it ..read more
