Stay a banker, become a mid-size CFO or look for a treasury role in a large-cap?

So, the title says it all. I'm currently a banker (4 years) and I am in serious talks with a mid-size company to become their CFO. The company is family owned, stable, mid-size, profitable. I would take responsibility for finance, IT, Admin and HR. My ultimate goal was always to become the CFO of a larger sized enterprise. Becoming the CFO of a mid-cap is probably a must before - no large-cap is going to hire a young banker with no corporate experience as the CFO right away. However, I'm not sure if that regional small-cap is a good fit (I have a very international background and also like th ..read more

I have decided to go part time from a full time job. I got my manager to agree with it (with reduce pay ofcourse). Shall I take it??

I, 25M, decided to go from a full time job to a part time job because I want to pursue my own business. I have prepared everything to leave first and then my manager suggested for a part time job for the time being. I thought it's better as I am able to take the time out and focus on building the brand while giving much reduce time to my part time job. I have to give my final response by evening. Please reddit family, suggest if it is a good decision? Also, will that impact later in my life in case I decide to go back to a full time job if my business doesn't work out??? submitted by /u/Open ..read more

So I work for a undisclosed company and have a work email that gets passed around the position that I currently hold. One day being bored and curious I decided to look at the google search history for the email in question (it being a Gmail). I find sexually explicit search history on the work email from a past user dating back several years (not a recent coworker), to the point where I don't even know who it was searching these things on their work email. I don't really know where to go from here and would love any advice. It just feels like they care more about me talking about it than it i ..read more

Greetings to: Students, Faculty and Staff, Recently, I've been pondering about going back to UCLA to finish my undergraduate degree. I did not finish completing my last couple classes (I believe it was 2-3 courses) that I needed in order to graduate. As I did not pass certain courses (one I failed twice) during the COVID era. This was primarily due to personal circumstances, in particular, mentally and financially as that time was extremely difficult for myself and many others. I took a break from school overall as I failed courses during C session of Summer 2020. After a year of working back ..read more

So I'm currently active duty Air Force and I was working on my bachelors of biology, but after taking some microbio and genetics courses which I passed, I realize that I don't have the time or effort with my current job to memorize these functions. I was a supervisor at a major fortune 100 pharmaceutical company before I joined and my passion is for R&D (specifically stem cell research) and the business background of Fortune 100 pharmaceutical companies. When I get out is Healthcare Management a good degree in relation to those goal? I spent a lot of time in the lab and even have two rese ..read more

I've been feeling really lost and confused about my career lately, and I could really use some advice or insight. Currently, I'm on a path in the retail industry, but it's not fulfilling me like I thought it would. I'm also pursuing an online distance MBA, hoping it would open up new opportunities, but I'm not sure how much it's going to help me in the long run. I've come to realize that I want to switch gears and explore a different industry altogether. The problem is, I'm not sure which direction to take or what skills I should focus on to make this transition successfully. If anyone has be ..read more

Hello, I (27F) am an engineer by profession. I just resigned at work with no back up plans. Thought it would be easy to look for job afterwards. Got really sick at my previous job. So now thinking if I made the right decision leaving my job because I am still sick and with no income to cover my health expenses, though I have my savings. Want to work abroad but seems like there are no many countries that provide visa sponsorships. I don't know what to do because I think I already exhausted all options for jobs abroad and am not still getting feedbacks for most applications. Even local job post ..read more
