A Vacay to Key West~
Everything Beautiful

I couldn't believe my ears when Scott said we should take a little vacation to Key West in February. Remember the spring fever from the last post? Well, it just got a lot stronger! I didn't think we could do it... leave the kids... for 4 days... but he did, and we made the plans! Savannah helped us SO much. When we stopped to think about it, February was the perfect time to go; especially to a sunny island in Florida!  We got up at about 4 a.m. because our flight was at 8:30 in Atlanta, two hours away. We planned to sneak away and let everyone sleep, but CA was awake, and we got to hug he ..read more

Spring Fever in February~
Everything Beautiful

Every year, Scott and I pick a new spot to make a new flower garden or spot for vegetables. This year, it is going to be a combination of both! I am so excited!!! We chose a spot on our driveway next to our address sign. Our neighbor is making a garden, too, so we shared the rent for a tiller and got it tilled up. Then we all worked to move stones left over from our house and created a border~ It is a perfect place, and we can't wait to plant it with flowers AND vegetables~ It's going to be a transformational addition to the drive down to our house~ Later in the week, CA and I adde ..read more

Missed a Week or More~ {Another Birthday + Other Celebrations}
Everything Beautiful

On Friday, WP went to the doctor with an earache, strep, and the flu, which threw us into a tailspin, and I knew we were probably in for a long week or two. I was right, and we carried on as best we could. One of the best things about home-schooling is scaling back to rest, carrying on if feeling better, and most of all... NO makeup work! Everyone worked on the things they enjoyed while others slept, and every single kid got it, which sums up the missed week~ Meanwhile, we didn't get to keep Leilei, which was quite sad, OR see Scottie and Lennox, but Scottie was so lucky to see the Gymdawgs ..read more

February starts with Birthdays~

This smiling girl had a birthday, and we celebrated all week long. Leilei was about it, too! We even had some warmer afternoons, which allowed time for outside play~ For school, we have been reading The Endless Steppe, which is an old but good book. Its chapters are long, and we haven't been able to get super interested. I didn't want to abandon it because of the WW2 geographical content, so we switched to the audio version and added this wonderful book by Kate Albus. We LOVED A Place to Hang the Moon!  I have been using a new strategy during read-aloud that helps us keep in mind all t ..read more

EK is forever taking pics of her pups, and because a sweet friend asked to see them, I decided to post a few shots. They are truly such beautiful pieces of our family life... can't imagine how the kids would get along without them. Very photogenic, I would say~ Grand shots of Scottie and her room of friends and Marshall after a trip to urgent care ❤️❤️~ The CO family has had the best winter so far, ice fishing and ice skating on a lake near their house. I really don't know how they stand the cold, but they clearly do~ Leilei is truly the sweetest baby. Things we learned this week are tha ..read more

The BEST Christmas EVER!!!
Everything Beautiful

Christmas is always the most anticipated event of the year at our house, other than summer. We had an exceptional holiday coming because our family was to be together, and we couldn't wait. As the week progressed, the boys had a bowling day as they waited. What a cool sign for them to stand under~ I decided at the last minute to send out a few Christmas cards; something I haven't done in quite a long while. It brought a lot of joy to send them to our loved ones~ Scottie and Lennox had their Christmas party at Ms. Stacy's so they couldn't wait to be there for gifts with their friends. I lov ..read more

The Busy Week Before Christmas~
Everything Beautiful

Why am I always surprised that even when I start so early and have things organized, the week before Christmas turns out to be so busy? Even more important that we keep it sweet and slow Dec days by loving on puppies and working on computers in the light of the tree~ As the kids grow up (teenagers), things change, and traditions like going to see Santa and walking around the mall turn into trying ice skating and walks around Greenville. Just as magical, and we loved it so much~ Four put on skates, and before their time was up, they were beginning to get the hang of it~ Five of us kept ou ..read more

December is Upon Us~
Everything Beautiful

I am always in awe that December comes... why? It always does. Right on time with all the excitement, gatherings, festivities, and day-to-day things. It doesn't matter how soon we get our tree up or the gifts wrapped, December flies for everyone, and it's so important we slow down and count every single blessing of the season. Like a little one that spends the mornings with us now, filling our house with delightful smiles and baby things. She's just as sweet as she looks~ These two worked diligently to organize the spices so they are easier to find and use. I now love this spice tower more t ..read more
