Funding the Adoption Journey: One Family’s Story
Lifesong Blog

Money should never be the reason a child doesn’t have a family. However, here at Lifesong, we understand that the adoption journey can be filled with financial hurdles, deterring many well-intentioned families from adopting. But we refuse to let finances stand in the way of a child growing up in a loving home. So through adoption financial assistance—like matching grants, interest-free loans, and adoption crowdfunding pages—we help bridge the gap in adoption fundraising. Specifically, by removing financial barriers, we seek to empower families to focus on what truly matters, providing love ..read more

by Lifesong for Orphans
6d ago
Today, on #WorldDownSyndromeDay we celebrate individuals with Down syndrome and the extraordinary joy they bring into our world. The story below was first published in 2021. Dan and Allison thought their family was complete. They had three great biological kids. Everyone was healthy and happy. What more could they want? Then one day while she was at home, Allison felt prompted by God to consider adoption. She was on board, but her husband, Dan, wasn’t quite so sure. As a planner, he knew adoption would put them on an entirely different financial path. Thankfully, God would use a simple new ..read more

Rachael’s Long-Awaited Return to School | An Update from Zambia

Rachael* prayed and prayed she would be able to return to school. When God didn’t answer her prayer, she contemplated giving up on Him. Thankfully, our team at Kharis House in Zambia is committed to helping young mothers like Rachael grow in their faith through difficult times in their lives. According to International Justice Mission, Zambia ranks 116th out of 145 countries in gender equality. Despite similar enrollment rates for girls and boys in primary education, girls drop out of school as their education advances, often the result of early marriage and teenage pregnancy. When a teenage ..read more

Giving Hope and a Future: The Coetzer Family Adoption Story

Adrian and Jennifer grew up in families that consistently welcomed children in need. So for them, they felt adopting a child wasn’t a question of “if” but “when.” Like many Christian couples, adoption was something Adrian and Jennifer discussed early in their marriage. But then they had two biological sons and life got busier. One day, their three-year-old son, Sutton said out of the blue, “I’ve been dreaming of a sibling coming, and he’s going to live here”—and Sutton started setting an extra place at the table for the sibling he was sure was on his way. Only, Sutton had no idea Adrian and ..read more

Trusting the God Who Cares About Injustice | An Update from Guatemala

by Lifesong for Orphans

Below, our team in Guatemala shares an example of what growing in faith can look like for orphaned and vulnerable mothers and children who have suffered injustice in Guatemala— Lidia* sat quietly in the back of the church. Her heart was beating heavily inside her chest. She felt nothing but anger inside. Others around her closed their eyes and sang hymns, slowly swaying back and forth with their hands in the air. “How do you trust in a God who allows bad things to happen to innocent people?” she questioned. She wanted nothing to do with God and couldn’t wait for the service to end. For sev ..read more

Young Leaders Disciple the Next Generation in Uganda

Our team in Uganda has known Ruth and Jossy for nearly ten years. Their stories are similar to many of the children we serve today. At a young age, both Ruth and Jossy lost their fathers and were left with only their mothers to take care of them. Because it is difficult for women without an education to find work in Uganda, their mothers struggled to provide, and they couldn’t afford to send them to school. Thankfully, through the support of sponsors, Ruth and Jossy were miraculously able to complete high school. They attended college where Ruth studied business management and Jossy studied ..read more

Orphans Are Loved in South Korea Because God First Loved Us

In South Korea, orphaned and vulnerable children are considered among the lowest of the low. The elderly are esteemed, while children, and especially orphans, are not. Baby Box was founded in South Korea in 2009 so mothers who couldn’t care for their babies could discreetly, anonymously, and safely deliver them to an orphanage. Babies were placed in a box with direct access to orphanage staff who would bring the baby inside. Recently, our team in South Korea held their 14th Arts and Crafts Camp. This year, 17 girls from four different children’s homes in South Korea attended, many of whom s ..read more

How an Adoption Matching Grant Changed Our Family’s Story
Lifesong Blog
by Trisha Priebe

Long before adoption became part of our story, or before we ever needed an adoption matching grant, my husband and I knew about Lifesong for Orphans. I followed this beautiful, important ministry and loved seeing the Lord’s handiwork in knitting families together. I loved seeing the joyful celebration of adoptions within the family of Christ. Our journey to adoption was long. Looking back now, I see clearly the Lord’s provision in all things. He used seasons of heartbreak and waiting and longing to continue growing and sanctifying us. He graciously allowed us to love and pray for our son and ..read more
