PHYSICAL Preschool Curriculum? (I don’t want to use computer/ipad)

I’ve searched the internet over and cannot for the life of me find a pre-k curriculum package that mails out actual physical teacher guides and student workbooks/curriculum. Does anyone have any recommendations? I want to start my daughter (3yo) in pre-k education this fall and I do not want her (or myself) to use and rely on a laptop or iPad. I guess I’m old school at the ripe age of 26 but I’d much prefer her to use actual books and paper. Send help submitted by /u/formerflamingo9 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hello Everyone! My wife and I are looking to homeschool our 5 year old son and have absolutely no idea where to start. We’re trying to find a curriculum for him for his kindergarten year. Some background: We’ve had him enrolled into a local pre school program (Presbyterian faith based, we’re non denominational) for the past year. Academically he has done pretty well compared to his classmates, however he has more energy than he knows what to do with which has landed him in minor trouble trough the year (Not listening, bouncing around the room, typical boy toddler stuff). Myself, my wife, and ..read more

Does anyone teach their kids any leadership courses in their curriculum? If so what are some resources for the rest of us to use? What is the cost, etc. I'm not even sure if other parents consider that a need to be taught to their kids but id like to teach it to mine. Thanks! submitted by /u/AccomplishedFigure55 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

My mom has been hounding me about doing my acellus every day (not weekends) for a minimum of 5 hours saying that it’s state required. Is this true or is she just trying to get me to do it? I thought it was self paced? She’s telling me i can’t go out or do things i want to do unless i do my 5 hours and i have to do it from 11am-4pm. she recently changed it and is having me wake up at 8am, take a short break at 11, then continue until 2-4pm. It’s making me dread doing it because the whole point of me switching to homeschool was to do it at my own pace and not have to worry about school conseque ..read more

Can I get a scholarship from that? • What are some homeschool specific scholarships I should apply for? • I’m a junior. I’m class of 2025. We are looking to open up a place where families who want alternative schooling for their kids can come and we would have a paid certified teacher doing small group lessons to the different grades. We are aware of the two day / 4 hr max. It would not be at a home, more of an outdoor facility set up. Does that require a certified childcare administrator? And also is there anyway around the 2 day max? If we were trying to make it almost like a co op school where eventually we had teachers teaching the children of multiple different grades (but no one student would go over the two day/ 4 hour ma ..read more

My son is five and we opted to start formal kindergarten when he turns six this up-and-coming school year to give him more time. Since January, I’ve started using the good and beautiful preschool to get him familiarized with letters and sounds instead of diving right into kindergarten without knowing anything. He is struggling he knows a lot of his letters and sounds but I am getting so defeated on teaching him to read. He just guesses and gets frustrated when I’m trying to teach him. I bought the bobs book for beginning readers and it’s just not clicking. I feel like I’m doing a huge disserv ..read more

Creating your own curriculum?

Has anyone created their own curriculum? I’m trying to teach my kids spanish. I'm completely fluent, and my oldest first language was Spanish, but she lost it as we stopped speaking it at home as much. I really don’t like any of the curriculum I have seen online since our spanish (we’re Uruguayan, so there are a lot of words we don’t use/ have different meanings). So I want to make my own, but don’t know where to start. Any advice? We live in the states btw* submitted by /u/dancemom98 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi! If you have used Brave Writer for the middle school years, can you tell me what you loved or what you didn’t love about it? I was thinking about having my kid do the online Guided Writing Process course to begin. And then I was looking at the middle school bundle. It seems to me that if you do the online course, then you don’t need the Growing Brave Writers part of the bundle and I’d only get Arrow and Building Confidence. Is that right? TIA to any help I can get! It seems a bit overwhelming at first glance and I just want some real feedback from people who have used it! *note- I’m not as ..read more
