Need advice: Improving mobile PageSpeed scores for my new business

Hi everyone, I’m at the doorstep of finally launching my eCommerce pet CBD business, a passion project that has absorbed countless hours over the last couple of years! In this journey, I’ve tackled everything from creating icons in Illustrator to mastering (or at least attempting to master) email marketing, and everything in between. I’ve used Elementor Pro to build my site, which has been a tremendous help. Unfortunately, when it comes to the technical side of things, it feels like I’m trying to read a book while doing a handstand! It might be doable for some, but it’s certainly a challenge ..read more

Web Developer - Online Retail

I work in the automation world. I purchase automation products constantly and have indentified some great opportunities to establish an online retail store. Problem being that I don't do web development. But I've established some great relationships with providers of equipment and know what the market calls for. I'm looking for someone to partner with that can develop the online store while I focus on the remainder of the business. Where is the best place to find said person(s)?? This would be a sweat equity deal... submitted by /u/Nicosee3 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Best way to design a standalone web widget to be sold to individual websites?

A friend had an idea for me to build a standalone web widget that he can use for his own business website, but also wants to be able to sell it to other businesses and allow them to plug it into their websites. It would probably be a complex frontend widget with no functionality requiring a backend. I thought of using iframes and I don't see an issue with them but I've never done this sort of thing before so I'm curious to know what other options there are or what the most common way this is done is. submitted by /u/Hawexp [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

What was the most genius hack you did in webdev?

Here's mine, which happend sometime back in 2003/04 or so. After I've learned PHP, MySQL and HTML back than, I desperately wanted to write my own chat. This was the time where IE was dominant amongst the browsers. I didn't know about sockets back then, since I just learned PHP and knew how to get and post data. So my "chat" was built out of frames that would refresh every second to pull new data, and a frame with the input field to post the message. However, back then IE had 2 ways of refreshing a page, an HTML meta-tag or frame-reload via JS, both with their own problems. meta-tag would make ..read more

Overcoming Email Service Sign-Up Barriers

I’m grappling with sign up restrictions while trying to generate a unique set of emails. My business model is built on creating a new unique email address on behalf of each client for each task I undertake for them to uphold integrity and security. Initially, I didn’t foresee any roadblocks, as Gmail for example doesn’t seem to forbid creating multiple accounts on behalf of others. However in actuality it seems they attempt to restrict you by asking for a unique phone number when creating a new email. I’ve considered paid alternatives like Google Workspaces but the majority of paid services I ..read more

I'm creating a simple 2d multiplayer turn based strategy game and I'm wondering what engine/framework i should use. The game will be made for browsers first, but will probably be made into an app for appstore/playstore and a game on steam later. The game will both have a multiplayer mode, as well as a mode where you play against AI. Should i create everything with js and css etc? For example by using react and phaser(and maybe another framework like bordgameio or rune)? and then use express and mongodb etc for backend? Or should i make the game with a game engine like godot/unity? I have expe ..read more

Hey all, just wondering if someone can help me with terminology. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6DJYGn2SFk&t=2720s In this video between 39:00 and 40:00 a lady enters a search criteria into a demo site, when she hits search the box seems to extend over the top of the website and become a chatbot window. Thank you in advance if you watch the bit of the video to understand what I mean. I'm not sure if its achieved with CSS or HTML or Javascript but would appreciate some input on how to do it. Many thanks submitted by /u/Babayaga1664 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
