CAN SOMETHING THAT HAS BEEN MICROWAVED BE CERTIFIED ORGANIC?

I get so disappointed with the food industry, both the big players and the small. I believe for the most part the disruption of true health from the industry may come from the naivety of the manufacturers.  Some manufacturers are small-scale businesses and use advisors to know what ingredients they should add to their product.  These ingredients can include acidity regulators, flavours, sweeteners or emulsifiers – all harmful additives to enhance the shelf life and taste of the product.  A close friend of my own made a product for her own lifestyle program, when I was able to ..read more

Changing Habits

Mycotoxins and Ethics: Setting A New Standard in Clean Coffee

Every morning my mother would percolate coffee for my father’s morning black coffee. The brewing smell reminds me of my childhood. I was never invited to drink coffee growing up and on the occasion when I did my heart rate would rise and I would become agitated. It was not a great experience. Therefore, coffee was not a part of my daily ritual. The one time I put up with the increase in heart rate and agitation was when I would get a migraine. Coffee is a powerful vaso dilator (vasoconstriction is a cause of migraines). It worked most times as long as I drank the coffee as soon as my migrain ..read more

I’ve been in the nutrition world far too long to see a new supplement trend on TikTok and become a best seller not to be a little suspicious as to its ability to do all the things claimed. I also wonder how the demand for this nutrient can be maintained worldwide. Is it an extract, or is it being made using synthetic biology (Crispr technology)?  A far more efficient system.  And am I prepared to be swept up in the hype? When it comes to preventative health care, I’m a vitalist not a mechanist. In the case of emergency care, the knowledge of mechanism comes up trump, but when it co ..read more

Changing Habits

The Nutrition Academy (Changing Habits’ education sector) gathers students from all over the world and from all walks of life.  The most consistent quality possessed by the students and graduates is their thirst for knowledge about health and nutrition and their incessant inquisitive minds.   Recently one of the students asked the following question:   “I’m seeing many naturopaths and nutritionists promoting liposomal supplements. Cyndi quickly touched on liposomal supplements in one of the modules but I was wondering if she could expand on that and explain how they work and i ..read more

Last week I went to visit my brother in The Blue Mountains. Every day we hiked the glorious walks of the area, my favourite was the Grand Canyon track. It was a wonderful week. My brother likes to eat like me; quality real foods made from scratch with the family surrounding the dinner table. I drove rather than flew as I was part of a farming conference at Picots Farm near Warwick the following weekend. I figured by driving I could visit my brother, do my talk then hike the Scenic Rim on my way home. The conference was fabulous. My job was to inform the farmers of how important their work wa ..read more

Why Choose Changing Habits Over Other Brands?
Changing Habits

If there is something I’ve learned over the past 24 months, it’s how many people are cajoled by the marketing tactics of food companies who value profit over health and are addicted to the quick fix model of health and agriculture and mesmerised by the fear-mongering media.   No, this isn’t me shamelessly plugging my own brand. In my 40 years of being a nutritionist, I’ve not only awakened to the false promises of farming and food in modern media but also expanded my knowledge in both of these areas; nourishing my family, work colleagues, friends and community with real foods. Most impo ..read more

Globesity and The Global Pandemic – Could they be Linked?
Changing Habits

Globesity; the amount of obese people worldwide. Global Pandemic; the worldwide spread of an infectious disease.   My opinion? Perhaps we don’t have a global pandemic perhaps it’s globesity that is the issue. Before you turn off – let me explain.   Evidence is emerging that the BMI (Body Mass Index) and mortality and morbidity from SARS CoV2, are linked.  In other words, your chances of becoming sick or dying from COVID increases as your weight increases if you are considered overweight or obese.   To understand this link we firstly need to understand the numbers:   ..read more
