I began this design journey with a skein of Trick or Treat floss from Weeks Dye works. I wanted to design something using it so I looked at it and saw it had the colors of a dark burning flame.
I was then thinking of an old stone candle factory I had seen in New England and thus the pattern was born. For the flame I made one entire stitch at a time and move from dark on the outside and lighter in the middle ..read more

This Santa is joining his friends, Book Lover’s Santa, Wine Lover’s Santa and Sea Lover’s Santa.
This is the rustic version with Weeks Dye Works to get a slightly variegated look and did very little outlining. I also made a brighter version of this Santa using DMC threads and outlining.
Be on the lookout for the next Santa in this collection of patterns ..read more

I’ve always wanted to make a pub sign for Christmas. Since we have Christmas decor for every other room in the house, I wanted something more than the little Santa hats that I stick on the bottles in the pub area.
I also wanted to make the design so the bottles could be ornaments that could be personalized and would be appropriate for both men and women. The ornaments in the photo were stitched on 14 count perforated paper and then glued onto blackboard tags ..read more

Easter is my favorite holiday. To me the scent and activity of spring brings an excitement that is reflected in the bright, happy colors.
So I have designed this sixth Easter egg in my Spring Series. I have stitched it two ways. One is on perforated paper with Mill Hill beads, and one is stitched on 28 count Touch of Pink Linen from Wichelt and uses Kreinik metallic thread ..read more

While I was getting lost in the old cobblestone streets of the ancient seaport town of Denia, Spain, I saw a beautiful painted tile. The tile featured birds, flowers and a vase. I began creating a variation of the design in my mind and then not only was I lost, but then i was bumping into things as my mind was busy creating this design.
The perfect thread to make this look old was The Gentle Art thread, and I stitched it it on linen. The pattern is in the June 2022 issue of Just Cross Stitch magazine ..read more

My favorite designs tend to be small. These have been some of my favorite things to design, partly because they can be personalized. I now have five charts of mittens, each with four designs, and designs for tiny tags to go on them. The two most recent will be available at the Nashville Needlewoek Show.
Check out my website for different finishes. They can be ornaments, gift tags, wine charms, put inside mason jar lids and filled with candy (of course, candy is one of the twelve main food groups, potato chips being another).
The chart contains instructions for both cross stitch and cross stitc ..read more

This was my favorite forbidden phrase while begging for candy as a kid (and maybe a little now too). I began designing this pattern with the phrase and then began to think of funny feet, which would be tiny legs with bulbous feet.
Then I got out a special fabric I had been saving for a special occasion, Eek! Linen from Picture this Plus. The colors were then chosen to match the fabric. I finished the piece by painting some raw wood black, lining the piece with some orangish pom poms I got from Stampin’ Up on closeout, and decorated with a 1” black grosgrain ribbon with a black swirly star from ..read more

inspired by a Sassy Friend of mine, this new series of charts features quips for all occasions. Here are the first four. I made them into pillows because it seems to me sassy people throw pillows a lot. These charts will be released at the Nashville Needlework Market March 4., along with other charts I will be featuring here ..read more

This year’s fall pattern was inspired by Acorns and Threads. Since this store was inspirational to me in becoming a cross stitch designer, I designed this to help celebrate their 25th anniversary. The design features 25 acorns.
Since we are all still wearing masks, I also provided a tiny pattern with the squirrels wearing masks ..read more

Here are some new patterns to stitch that are versatile. They can be stitched over one thread on 28 count linen and made into jewelry, or on 14 count and mounted on tins, featured on a wooden box, on clothing or made into an ornament.
I used 28 count linen from Wichelt for the fabrics, and made cording out of one of the DMC colors I used in the stitched piece to frame it ..read more
