Want to buy a starter Rv trailer. Under 20k, about 20ft and around 4k lbs Figured id upgrade if i get alot of use Used to own a class C. I wanted to ball park the financials before they run credit. Was gonnavput dowm around 1/4 or more. They add a 2k fee thst struck me as odd. A fee for the shop to look it over. Its mandatory they said and everyone has to pay it. Even if they buy a 100k RV. Its used then to fix anything thats wrong and "this isnt like the car business" and sometimes they eat the costs if the reapair isbmore than the 2k. And if nothing was wrong wth mine, tough luck. I know the bridge is old and narrow but as it used to be a railroad bridge I’m assuming the weight rating is fairly high. Has anyone crossed with a one ton truck towing a travel trailer? Any known restrictions? submitted by /u/JacktheSasquatch [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Lippert Electric Tongue Jack On/Off Switch

I installed a new Lippert electric tongue jack on my Jayco 174BH today. I wired it not to the battery terminal itself but the electric junction box where the positive wire comes off the trailer. Works perfectly well, as do all my electrical components inside. The jack has an on/off switch that doesn’t do anything though, and I can’t figure that out. Even when it’s in the off position, the jack will still lift and lower. Would this be related to how I wired it, or an issue with the jack itself? For that matter, does it make any difference? submitted by /u/choirandcooking [visit reddit] [comme ..read more

RV with separate entrance for toilet/bathroom?

Hey guys, I am interested in finally buying a RV. However it probably sounds strange, but what I don’t like about RVs is that the inside space is only separated from the toilet by a thin door. Basically when I want to use the toilet, I want to be in piece and not only separated by a thin door :D One solution that I could think of would be an RV that has an seperate entrance for the bathroom/toilet. Is there something like that ? Thanks :D submitted by /u/Hello244255 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I'm trying to understand the difference between a bar style WDH and a bar and chain style. I can see the difference by looking at them of course, but other than appearance, what's the difference? My TT is just under 7600lbs gvwr and 29ft long. I am wanting a 1 ton diesel truck as my TV. Its overkill, but I might want to upgrade the TT to a bigger one down the road. Possibly a fifth wheel, I'll figure that out when i get there. I was going to get a WDH rated for 8000lbs and probably something with sway control. I assume from my reading online that it's an appropriate rating for my trailer size ..read more

Parking space for RV

Cross posted: Just purchased a 2013 Keystone Passport 2510RB. This is our first RV and are really excited. We’re picking it up tomorrow, and currently looking for spaces to store it (our HOA won’t allow it in front of our house). Complete ignorance here: I found a space that is 10’ x 30’. Storage in this area is scarce. Will this be big enough to fit? I checked the specs of the RV online, and it says it’s 28.83’ x 8’, so in theory I’d have about a foot of space all around. Any guidance would be appreciated. submitted by /u/whodatninjy [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Best travel trailer option for Subaru Ascent - bunk beds preferred

Hi there - I saw a post where someone asked a very similar question to my own, but I figured I’d rephrase and see what people came up with. I have a small family of four - the kids are 3 and 1. For that reason bunk beds are preferred so we can hang a sheet over one of the beds for the baby. The Subaru Ascent has a max tow capacity of 5k pounds. I understand I’d need a small trailer and I was wondering what people would recommend. For sake of argument let’s say money isn’t an issue (though of course it is). I know people will recommend buying a truck and getting a bigger trailer, but I don’t t ..read more

Bought a new tow vehicle and want to upgrade from an A-frame and be safe about it. Advice appreciated.

Currently own a 2021 Forest River Rockwood A213HW and have used it about 8 times in the last year. Latest trip was a 9 day loop from UT-ID-MT and back and my previous tow vehicle (2014 Jeep Wrangler), definitely struggled on windy flat stretches of interstate and anytime there was significant elevation. Fast forward and I bought a 2024 Chevy Colorado w/ towing package that's rated at 7700lbs tow and 1700lbs payload. So while we like the A-frame, there are 2 things we want to change that would require an upgrade. The lack of an indoor wet shower/private toilet (we had to stay at campgrounds w ..read more

Bike carrier discussion, looking for peoples' opinions / experiences

Our camper is a nuCamp T@B 400 Boondock, so no rear-end receiver to use for a rack nor any way to add one on the back, so any carrier needs to be tongue mounted. Our tow vehicle is a Jeep Gladiator, for which I can find bed rails but I'd have to take off our tonneau cover to use any I've found.   So, with the prelims out of the way, to the request. We've currently got a Jack-IT Wing bike carrier and after seeing some posts on a nuCamp forum about problems (and the manufacturers response to said problems) and the fact that between my bike and my wifes' ebike we are RIGHT on the max weight ..read more

Need to drain grey tank uphill

I recently bought a food truck and realized that in order to drain the gray tank I need to identify a device that enables pressure for the water to flow uphill. I’m going to be draining into a commercial sink as there is no sewer line close by. We are currently draining into buckets, which we then moved to the sink does anyone have a better way of doing this? submitted by /u/lost78722 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
