In every community are stories of both hardship and hope. Today, we want to share a tale that captures both. Two kind souls in a Regina neighbourhood found themselves in a situation that would tug at the heart strings of anyone.
It all began with an abandoned, pregnant cat who was left to fend for herself in 2021. This act of neglect set off a chain reaction, resulting in a colony of cats struggling to survive on the streets. The two individuals, armed with limited resources, and up against multiple barriers such as the high cost of vet care and rising cost of living, took it upon ..read more

Hugh is a wonderful cat who frequented a very busy Community Cat feeding station for over 2 years. A kind lady had been feeding him and said that this was the second winter that Hugh had been on the streets. She reached out for help with Hugh when she noticed a nasty wound on his leg that was causing him to limp and causing pain. Nevertheless, he always was happy to see her and accept some food. At this point, he was taken into care and we were fortunate that a foster home stepped up to care for him.

RCR values the connections we have with feral cats
March 9th, 2024 was a hard day for RCR volunteers as we lost one of our own after many years. Abe was a long time community cat who appeared to be hit by a car, devastating many RCR volunteers who cared for him regularly.

Abe was born a feral kitten, one of 4 from his litter. At the time, RCR didn’t have many foster homes that would take on feral kittens to socialize, so he was trapped, neutered
when old enough and released.
Volunteers would drive by and look for him almost everyday, stopping to fe ..read more

RCR’s first 2024 rescue, don
Happy new year, cat lovers! Thank you for your ongoing love and support. It is our pleasure to introduce you to the lovely Don, our first official rescue of 2024.
Don after being trapped in an underground parkade
Don is a clever and resourceful cat who landed in the warm underground parkade of a local condominium complex. Don attracted the attention of a couple of cat-loving residents who left food for the little guy but who also reached out for help to get him to a better place. Thankfully, Don was quickly trapped in the contained environment and was tame enough ..read more

bear upon surrender
Just days before Christmas, RCR learned that one of our former rescues, Bear, had been surrendered to the Regina Humane Society at 11 year of age. Her owner’s health had deteriorated and he was no longer able to care for her after many years together.
We quickly arranged to pick Bear up and she was taken to one of our partner vet clinics, but we were challenged to find a foster placement for poor Bear so close to Christmas. Everyone was busy and full and Bear was depressed and sad at the clinic. Our hearts broke for her. Thankfully, Bear had a Christmas angel on her side a ..read more

chachi loved his cat tree
Chachi has been a fan favourite since his rescue from a rural Regina area along with his mom and siblings who became known as our “Happy Days” litter. The family thrived in foster care. We were shocked when we learned poor Chachi had a Grade 6 heart murmur when we sent him to neutered. This was a first for RCR.

Following the recommendation of a trusted veterinary partner, Chachi was taken to see a cardiologist at a specialty clinic in Edmonton. He did great and received a positive report. The murmur was significant but not life threatening. We happi ..read more
