Strategies, tips/tricks with exercise and managing BG? Also eating after exercise…?

Any tips and tricks for exercise and BG management? I’ve heard for example when working out do weights first then cardio last. And timing any general movement/activity after a meal. Is there anything else? Also how do you ‘fuel’ yourself after a gym workout, anything in particular just focus on protein…? submitted by /u/silent_nanny [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

(spoilered for mentions of female anatomy, just wanna be safe) so i'm a 19f diabetic, i've had it for almost 9 years and i've gotten used to having blood sugar spikes and dives due to my period. but for some reason, i'm still having times where i fall low to an unsafe level even though i'm off my period. most of the time, nothing even happens. i'm not in a position where my sugar drops, no insulin on board, etc. does anyone else know what's going on? submitted by /u/windows-nerd [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Does anyone know somewhere to get a replacement guardian 4 cgm transmitter charger? been through a couple moves lately and mine seems to have walked off, and it's too soon for my insurance to cover it. Ozempic Update

Couple of weeks ago I made a post here asking can ozempic make you depress? I stopped taking it for week 5 and I’m feeling better. But the cravings and appetite is slowly coming back, but so does my emotions. I’m not having any breakdowns and I’m starting to feel again, it actually made me happier because I never felt so normal. Is there any alternative for hunger control that doesn’t have the same side effects as Ozempic? I’m continuing my regular diet and exercise, but I really need to lose weight, having my cravings makes it hard. Thank you very much for the advises! submitted by /u/Burne ..read more

Ok so I finally found out that my A1C is sitting at 6.5%. this was the post https://www.reddit.com/r/diabetes/comments/1atozjb/my_road_to_having_diabetes_and_then_finding_out/ So, my insurance hooked me up with a Livongo meter. Everything free, something the VA denied me because I was "not diabetic" enough... but I was diabetic enough to throw me on pills. So, all the pills the VA has given me had done nothing but make me sick... I mean extremely sick. I also said screw the VA after all this and got a PCP in the private sector. He asked me if I was taking the pills, I said no they make me ver ..read more

Morning fasting number rising without eating

My morning fasting numbers have been high. I don't normally eat breakfast until I get to work. When I tested this morning about 30 minutes after waking up I was at 8.2. After getting to work 1.5 hours later it had risen to 9.4. I didn't have anything to eat or drink in between and did some walking which I would have thought would lower my number. Why does it continue rising? Background: I've had Type 2 for 2 years (and prior to that had GD with 2 pregnancies). I take 500mg Metformin twice a day, after breakfast and dinner. My A1C has been stable but 3 months ago rose to 6.6. Most recent A1C h ..read more

Inconsistent reading?

Hey y’all, I wanted to see if palm readings could be accurate so I did a text on my palm and another on my index finger. Then I followed it up with a ring finger test because the two varied a bit and even the third reading is inconsistent with the first two. Palm- 176 Index - 167 Ring- 159 Any idea why this is happening, if it’s normal, and which reading I should trust? Thank you! submitted by /u/Small-Floof [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Best 24 hour I’ve had in months

The past couple of years my A1C has been an absolute struggle. Blood sugars always seem to be running high. A couple weeks ago I accidentally gave my long acting insulin 12 hours apart instead of 24 and noticed more balanced blood sugar levels. Since then I’ve slowly upped the dose of my long acting insulin and over the past 48 hours my blood sugar average is the lowest it’s been in months ?? submitted by /u/xxStarlord98 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I'm 26M and I just found out I am diabetic, I'm overweight and was genetically predisposed to get it. My doctor prescribed me Metformin and I was just wondering if you guys had any tips. I started going to the gym last week before I found out and it honestly did a big hit to my motivation, but I'm going to stay strong and keep working. My doctor told me I'm at a point where if I control my diet and lose weight I can get it under control and not be affected by the diabetes. I just wanted some tips and recommendations on some sugar free alternatives (soda is my kryptonite). Any and all feedback ..read more

Hey all, I was diagnosed as type 1 a week ago today I started right away with Lantus and then within a couple days mealtime humalog I’ve been feeling better energy wise but the last 3 days I’ve had trouble with my eyes. My visions not terribly blurry so much, maybe a little bit it’s almost like they just aren’t focusing very well. Or something will be in focus then my eyes go weird. Is this normal ish? I’ve read that because of pressure caused by high BGL getting your sugars down can sometime cause this but I haven’t seen much info about it or many other people talk about this experience. Any ..read more
