Earlier this week we were invited to Pixar Studios to tour the studio, talk to the filmmakers behind their newest picture, Elemental, and most excitingly, watch footage from the finished film! Before watching the beginning 20 or so minutes of Elemental, director Peter Sohn took to the stage to introduce his second feature. Just a few days prior the final shot of the film had finished rendering! Yesterday Pixar unveiled the brand new trailer for the studio’s newest animated feature, Elemental, coming to theaters this summer, June 16th, accompanied by the Up short, “Carl’s Date.” Elemental follows Ember, a spirited fire denizen of Element City who is reluctant to leave the enclave of Firetown and firmly believes “elements don’t mix.” That is, until an unexpected encounter with water guy Wade, her polar opposite in terms of element and personality, pulls her into the wider world. Welcome to another quick Woody’s round-up of news! With the surprising Toy Story 5 news revealed last week, news has been a little slower in other areas, but there’s a couple things to catch up on. Elemental is being scored by Thomas Newman Thomas Newman has previously written the scores for some especially beloved Pixar films: Finding Nemo, WALL·E and Finding Dory. Awards season is in full swing, with both the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards taking place earlier this month. Turning Red didn’t win the animation prize at either, which makes its Oscar chances a bit hard to predict. Could it pull off a surprise win or will it be one of the few Pixar films to go home empty handed?  What’s actually surprising — shocking, even — is the lack of nomination for Best Original Song. Elemental is Pixar’s next feature length project, releasing in June 2023, and yesterday we got our first proper look at it in teaser trailer form! Have a look at the new trailer below.
