The annual Old Wesley Corporate Golf Event took place on Friday 3rd June 2024.  Apart from one or two attempts to rain the weather stayed dry and pleasant and an enjoyable time was had by all participants. The event was sponsored by DNG and a number of other companies and individuals sponsored prizes and holes.  A big thank you to all.  Also a big thank you to Adrian Hawe, Eddie Fogarty and their team who organised the event. Its been a blast so far as 24 girls have taken to the pitch for the last two weeks for this seasons Give It A Try programme.  The GIAT programme is an introductory programme designed by the IRFU and is seen as a way to introduce rugby to girls so that they take part in the sport in a fun, safe and happy environment. As you may have seen throughout the season our Under 14 Girls squad, amalgamated with DLSPRFC, have grown from strength to strength this season with 6 of our members training and playing regularly with the squad names De La Wes. Our season came to close last weekend as we travelled up to Belfast to watch the Ireland v Scotland W6N match at the Kingspan.  Sixteen of the squad travelled leaving DLSP at 10.00am and with a stopover on the way up we reached the Kingspan and settled in.  Its only taken the girls all season but the realisation that Chris (Manager) was supporting Scotland ju ..read more

An amazing end of season fun day for our mini rugby stars from u6-u11 last Sunday. Thanks so much to Jamison Gibson Park former mini’s Ryan Baird & Andrew Porter (both not so mini anymore) for giving up their Sunday morning and taking time out of their European cup semi final prep to pose for lots of pictures & sign lots of autographs. Purcell Cup Final – Old Wesley 9 Greystones 20 – 21st April 2024 So the epic turnabout in fortunes for this season’s u20s did not produce the fairytale ending, but ended in defeat to Greystones in the Purcell Cup Final held on a glorious sunny day in Energia Park. Purcell Cup – Old Wesley 9 Greystones 20 Old Wesley Under 20s were unable to win the Purcell Cup as they lost out to Greystones in a lack luster final.  Greystones deserved their victory looking the better side for much of the match. Old Wesley were guilty of a large number of handling errors and their line out struggled to claim authority.  Old Wesley’s scores were limited to three penalty goals by Jonny Cazzini. Moran Cup Final  –  Old Wesley 31 Railway Union 17  –  19th April 2024 Old Wesley beat Railway Union in the final of Moran Cup making it the 6th time that Old Wesley has won this trophy. Railway looked the stronger side in the opening quarter taking a 3 nil lead. Wesley then started to find some gaps and two late first half tries by Stephen Keane and Dan Hall, converted by Adam Colbert earned them a 14-3 lead going into half time.  Second half tries by Luke Fitzpatrick and team captain, Gary Hawe made it 26-3.  The opposition then pulled back two converted tries b ..read more

This weekend is a huge weekend for Old Wesley with 3 teams playing in finals or semi-finals, all at Donnybrook. On Friday night the 4ths (Colts) take on Railway Union in the final of the Moran Cup. Kick off is at 8pm.  Old Wesley has won this cup on five previous occasions and will be hoping to make it the half dozen on the night. Saturday is the biggest game of the year for the Seniors who take on Garryowen in the AIL 1B Promotion Semi-final.
