Rosslyn Park 29 Blackheath 29

A typical local derby between two clubs who have shared a rivalry since the 1880s, scrappy, and a little fractious at times (though never boiling over) but full of drama with honours even at the close. Undoubtably, it will be Blackheath who walked away the happier. The last-ditch converted try claimed three league points for the visitors against the side placed third in National League One, though even the most die-hard Rosslyn Park supporter must concede this was a far more enthralling contest than the uninspiring 15-0 victory for the Surrey team at The Utilita in December. Henley 2s 31 – Club XV 45
Blackheath Rugby Club

In a hastily arranged fixture following the cancellation of our scheduled home fixture with Belsize Park first team, the Club XV travelled to Henley for an end of season friendly. On a lovely warm and sunny afternoon, Blackheath wasted little time in crossing the whitewash with centre Isaiah Akpovwa touching down following a great passage of play involving both forwards and backs. In what was to become the pattern of thisgame, Henley hit back soon after with a nice try by their number 11 dotting down in the corner. Two excellent tries by 18-year-old centre, Tom Moran, who is certainly one to w ..read more

Utilita takeover – 2024
Blackheath Rugby Club

Blackheath’s result against Sedgley Park was not just a convincing win in the National One – it was far more meaningful.  The fixture was dedicated to Utilita Giving, the official charity partner of Blackheath’s naming rights partner, Utilita.  Our generous fans raised just short of £2,000 on the day, which has been split between UG and Greenwich Foodbank.  Both organisations share a synergy when it comes to their work, meaning all the money will go towards supporting vulnerable families out of fuel and food poverty. Bill Bullen, CEO and co-founder of the club’s naming rights pa ..read more

Blackheath 25 Sedgley Park 15
Blackheath Rugby Club

A contest dominated by a strong gusty cross-field wind and littered with penalties, a majority against Sedgley Park, and for which the visitors ultimately paid the price. Back in National League One after a gap of ten years, Sedge had started the 2023/24 campaign in fine form, sitting in a strong fourth place at the turn of the year, until Blackheath’s 24-17 win at Park Lane in early January signalled a decline which saw them lose seven of their nine matches since, dropping them to ninth place, one behind their hosts. Trailing 18-3 on the hour-mark, the Lancastrians looked to be heading for a ..read more

Holland hits his half century
Blackheath Rugby Club

Archie Holland runs out for his 50th cap tomorrow, in the game against Sedgley Park. Archie’s first game for Club was on 3 September 2022 playing against Dorking, and he has been a regular in the squad since then, playing in every single game since that one, which is an amazing  achievement.  Congratulations to Archie on his half century – we look forward to seeing him play tomorrow, and in many more games to come!     #blackheathrugby #blackheathfc #club #50caps #milestone #halfcentury #clubman The post Holland hits his half century appeared first on Blackheath Rugby ..read more
