Winners of seven straight games, the Boise State Broncos men’s basketball team is on a roll as the calendar flips to 2021. Not only are the Broncos (7-1, 3-0) winning — and winning big — they are performing well in all aspects of the game. Simply ask the New Mexico Lobos and San Jose State Spartans. The Spartans (1-5, 0-3) were the latest foe to fall to Boise State’s balanced play, a 106-54 victory  for the Broncos on New Year’s Eve. Derrick Alston, Jr led the way with 23 points, marking the fourth-straight game — and fifth overall this season — in which he’s scored 20 or more. All tol ..read more

Victory tastes a little bit sweeter on the road against a quality opponent. The Boise State Broncos may have barely hung on, but they proved they had the guile on Wednesday night to deal with adversity. Emmanuel Akot hit a three-pointer with 13 seconds remaining, breaking a 70-all tie, and the Broncos (3-1) defeated the BYU Cougars 74-70. The Broncos defeated the Cougars 72-68 last season in ExtraMile Arena. Despite foul trouble and struggles from the free throw line (12-18 in the second-half, 14-21 overall), Boise State managed to eke out the victory. After opening a big lead early, it was ..read more

The opening game in the Mountain West tournament for the Boise State Broncos men’s basketball team will be a rubber match with a familiar foe. Let’s hope the Broncos have a much-better shooting effort this time around against the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels. Last Wednesday, Boise State (19-11, 11-7) struggled with their shot much of the game against UNLV. Dejected, frustrated and down 27 at one point, the Broncos closed the gap before ultimately losing 76-66. The Rebels (17-14, 12-6) also had a nice defensive effort, but it was truly the shooting disparity that did Boise State in. The Broncos shot ..read more

First, a victory moves the Broncos (18-10, 10-6) one step closer to locking up a first-round bye in the Mountain West tournament. Second, it is the final home game for five Bronco seniors. Most of the group has represented the blue and orange for the past four seasons. All five of these players have given their all during the time spent on campus. A defensive effort reminiscent of year’s past was more than enough to power the Boise State Broncos women’s team to a victory over the Wyoming Cowgirls on Wednesday night. A great shooting effort from senior Riley Lupfer helped, too. The Broncos (16-8, 8-4) forced 24 Wyoming turnovers — 15 of which were steals — and held the Cowgirls to 36.4 percent shooting in the second half in a 67-48 Boise State victory. Lupfer had 18 points on 7-9 shooting, knocking down 3-5 from deep, and also had two blocked shots and a steal. Jayde Christopher was a force on the defensive end with a career-high six ..read more
