Mike Peake enters the transfer portal to put Georgia at the 13 scholarship limit. After one season at UGA, Mike Peake will be exiting the program.  The loss of Peake means that Crean will only have four remaining players from the Class of 2019.  Many will think he was recruited over or it is a typical case of “Spring Creaning”, which is a humorous and derisive reference to Tom Crean oversigning every offseason.  However, there was uncertainty and some understandable discontent with playing time. The rising Sophomore from Chicago expressed his uncertainty as far as his future was ..read more

Andrew Garcia was one of three key Juniors on the Stony Brook roster to transfer out of the America East Conference favorites. Geno Ford’s loss is Tom Crean’s gain.  The 6’5″ 228 pound Stony Brook graduate from Harlem, New York is trading life by Port Jefferson for the Classic City.  It is a massive shift culturally for Garcia to go from a Long Island suburb with no town-gown relations to the one of the best college towns in the United States in a crunchy oasis of the Deep South.  Garcia would join Justin Kier as graduate transfers expected to make an impact on this 2020-21 Geor ..read more

Let’s go back to October 18, 2019, which was Georgia’s Exhibition Game against Valdosta State. October 2019 was certainly simpler times and no one could have ever expected that March Madness would be cancelled.  During this time, there was much anticipation for the debut of Anthony Edwards at Stegeman Coliseum.  Georgia went through a bit of an evolution and devolution during the 2019-20 Season and in this series, the goal is to look at what exactly Georgia was doing and not doing with visual help rather than a description of the events.  So let’s go down memory lane and see how ..read more

Georgia needed a player who could shoot from the perimeter, Justin Kier, delivers. Justin Kier will be immediately eligible to play for the Georgia Bulldogs next season and he will likely be a strong candidate to be a starter in the lineup whenever the season starts.  Kier gives Georgia a perimeter shooting threat that they did not have last season and he will play an important role in ensuring that opponents respect Georgia’s spacing on the floor.  Kier was pursued by many schools and he narrowed his choices down to North Carolina State, Minnesota, and Georgia.  North Carolina ..read more

Not Surprisingly, Steve McClain is Hired as a UGA Assistant Coach

Steve McClain’s experiences with Tom Crean and as a Head Coach with two separate stints made him the obvious choice. Steve McClain was a part of Tom Crean’s revitalization of the Indiana program and now Crean turns to the former University of Illinois-Chicago Head Coach to fill the role held by current Air Force Head Coach, Joe Scott.  McClain fiery persona will be an intriguing addition to the typically mellow bench, at least compared to the Mark Fox era.  McClain’s background interestingly fits rather well to spelling the loss of Joe Scott in a number of ways. McClain’s Experience ..read more

The Walt Disney Company is the Parent Company of ESPN and their current fiscal woes are a risk to the SEC and Member Institutions. Joe Scott, the offensive and defensive strategic architect of the Georgia staff is expected to return to Air Force as their Head Coach. Joe Scott’s Princeton-styled Offense and zone defenses will likely be missed as he is expected to once again become the Head Coach at Air Force.  The offensive style and the defensive style of play were greatly shaped by Joe Scott and now Tom Crean would need to find an assistant to fill the role.  With the expected change in assistants, there may be change and while it is likely that the offensive style of play will remain, the defensive end is a bit more unc ..read more
