A Girl’s Trip to Charming St. Augustine

If you’ve been following along on social, you know that I went on a girl’s trip to St. Augustine, Florida a week ago. Before our trip, I did a little research on St. Augustine. What I discovered is that St. Augustine is a city steeped in history. It’s noted as America’s oldest city. However, even after reading all of this I still expected the same Floridian vibe that I’ve experienced in many other cities in the state, but I was in for quite a surprise.  St. Augustine is quite the city! It has a mix of southern charm (think Charleston, South Carolina)- colorful buildings, seaside, and cu ..read more

My Word for 2024

One of my favorite blog posts is always my Word of the Year post. I love coming up with a word, or better yet, letting a word make its way to me. I have always believed in fresh starts and new beginnings and selecting my word helps me set the intentions for my year. The word is a bigger guide than my resolution lists. While I might resolve what I won’t be doing this year (eating too much sugar, slacking on my workouts, or spending too much money on things I don’t need) my word tells me what I will be doing or better yet what I’m aspiring to. That speaks to me- aspiration that is. Last year my ..read more

Three Easy Ways to Manage Holiday Stress

We all know that it’s supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year. In many ways, for a lot of us, it just might be. But that doesn’t mean that even for the most holiday-loving among us this time of year is stress-free. And for some of us, it’s a really tough time of year. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that the holidays bring with them all kinds of feelings of grief and loss and financial stressors too. As many of us gear up for Christmas in a couple of weeks the stress meter begins to rise. Here are three things you can do (from now until Valentine’s day) to manage the stress of th ..read more

What I’m Loving This Fall

Every fashion girl or pumpkin spice lover’s favorite season is upon us. I’m a little late to the fall things party, as I have been revising my novel. I can’t wait until I am able to do a whole post on what this process has been like. I thought I knew a little bit about traditional publishing going in but there are so many layers to it. I’ll share my journey soon but just know, my book is better for it and I couldn’t be more proud of how far it’s grown from the tiny seedling of an idea. It’s been a long-time dream of mine. So back to fall- we all know it’s Cozy Season. The older I get the more ..read more

Paris in Review

Now that my Paris trip is in the rearview and I’ve gotten my schedule (mostly) back on track it’s time for me to share my review.  Before our trip, I heard so many positive things about Paris: the food is divine, the shopping is (one of) the best in the world, the architecture is jaw-dropping, and so on.  However, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention some of the negative sentiments too- it’s dirty, smelly, and the people are rude. Now full disclosure I’m a big fan of cities so the idea that it might be a little grimy, have hot summer city smells wafting through the air, and people too ..read more

Prepping For Paris

I’m in the middle of prepping for our trip to Paris and thought that it might be good to get all my  preplanning stuff on paper (or, more accurately, on the blog). I knew last fall that we would definitely be traveling to Paris, France this July. But that was about the only thing I was sure of. Where would I stay? What are the must-sees? What should I bring along with me? Those were all questions that trickled in over the months in between. As a former educator I’ll always be under the assumption that when one person has a question (I had so many) others probably have the same question t ..read more

If your social circles are anything like mine chances are you’ve seen women you know taking girls trips to a certain city with a strong western influence, where everyone comes home with a pair of cowboy boots. But I’ve been saying for a couple of years that if you’re looking for a charming city in the Midwest, I think Ft. Wayne, Indiana makes a great girlfriend’s destination- cowboy boots are not required. Last week when my plane touched down in Ft. Wayne, a knowing grin stretched across my face. This was my second trip to Ft. Wayne, and I was thrilled to be invited back by the team at Visit ..read more

I don’t know about you but I’m excited to get away and bask in the sun just a little, and most importantly to celebrate a beautiful union. However, I do feel like the preparation before an international trip can be a little overwhelming. We are just a few weeks away from visiting another island location- if you read my last post you know we went to Aruba at the end of February, so think of this as part two of a travel series.  This month we’re headed to one of my favorite destinations- Negril, Jamaica, which means I am in the process of planning out my looks. I thought it might be helpfu ..read more

Our Aruba Vacation-A Review

If you’ve been following along on social media you are probably well aware of our recent island vacation. You’re also probably cognizant of the fact that the last couple of months were particularly challenging for our family. So even though we had a late spring and mid-summer trip planned, an earlier respite was just what we needed. I reached out to our travel guy when we were ready to plan. He does a wonderful job of handling all of our travel and he came back quickly with a few options (you can find Al here). We’d narrowed it down to Cabo or Aruba but since we’d already visited another beau ..read more

My Word For 2023

Happy New Year, friends! I love choosing a word for the year. I typically use a word to guide my goals and the steps I take toward them for the year. Last year I didn’t choose a word. I thought I’d outgrown the process of choosing. Or that maybe I needed to let the word choose me. I told myself it would all come together if I just sat back and let the year play out. Perhaps it was pandemic fatigue or the realization that some years we have no real control over the big things that happen in our life- I’m looking at you 2020.  But this year I noticed that I let a lot of things go. I wasn’t ..read more
