Notice to all Mill Bay Tennis Club Members
Your Board held a virtual meeting on March 24th, and agreed that this notice be sent to all members.
CLUB SANCTIONED PLAY
Until further notice there will be NO CLUB SANCTIONED PLAY at any tennis court. If you who choose to play singles or doubles please be aware that the club will not accept any liability for your actions. Furthermore as part of the Board’s current decision we will be removing one of the nets from the Mill Bay courts. Until we get the all clear from the BC Health Authorities these restrictions will stay in place.

I forgot to mention….
Several of you travel south for the winter, and return in time to join the outdoor tennis season at our courts . Please don’t assume this disqualifies you from volunteering on the Board.
Much of the work we do can be done through emails, or on-line. Some can be organized down south at your leisure, then delegate to someone here to action.
While admittedly, much of the Board’s work occurs between mid-February to mid-April, it doesn’t all involve work that require you actually being here.
We usually hold 5 meetings a year:

We need you to “take a turn”.
Three years ago I was asked to assume the role as President of the club. I said I would…not because I wanted to, or thought it would look good on my resumé. I simply believe that if you participate in something, particularly a volunteer driven organization, you need to “take your turn” at helping out.
The club Bylaw restricts board members from serving longer than 3 years. This is a good rule as it stops cliques from forming in the board, and organizing things to their advantage.

The tournament:
please let us know if you are attending the tournament, and/or the after-party at Grant and Corinne’s cabin (see below)
play starts at 11:00 am and will use the same format as we have used for the last several tournaments
this tournament is scheduled to coincide with when Wimbledon is played…so in keeping with that theme, please try and wear your “all white” outfits. We will also play the initial games with wooden rackets. If you have any, bring them.

the agenda will include a Financial report so you get a feel for what our operating budget looks like, and what’s in our saving account…used to resurface our courts every 5-7 years.
