Rip Jig for Circular Saw

I have a confession.  I own a tablesaw, but I dread ripping plywood. Why?  Well, part of the problem is I'm short, and wrestling up a sheet of plywood on to the tablesaw deck is very challenging.  Then trying to keep it straight, while pushing the plywood through ... it is a dreaded task. When a sheet of plywood weights 80 pounds and a saw weighs 2 pounds, what's smarter:  Moving the plywood or moving the saw? So I came up with a jig that is custom made for my circular saw foot - so now all I have to do is clamp and cut!  It cross cuts and rips with ease!   Watch ..read more

Built-In Pantry Shelving
Ana White Blog

A pantry is a must have on any house I build.  I design my kitchens to hold tools (dishes, mixing bowls, pots and pans, cutting boards, etc) and spices and coffee.  That's it. Everything else goes in the pantry.  Yes, everything.  If it regularly rotates out, it needs to be on open shelving in the pantry.  That way you don't end up with expired cans in deep drawers or moldy bread at the back of the shelf.  Or maybe worse, you can't access and inventory what you have quickly and easily. Even though this house is small, we made sure to include a pantry rig ..read more

Building the Round Top of this Rustic Farmhouse End Table Here's how I built the round top for this end table. First, joint two 1x12 boards together using pocket holes to make the tabletop boards.  Avoid screws where the saw will cut into when cutting the circle. NOTE: I am using reclaimed 1x12 boards. Then, build the octagon apron for under the tabletop.  Avoid screws where the saw blade will cut into when cutting the circle. Attach the octagon apron to the underside of the 1x12s with brad nails and glue - avoid nails where the saw blade will cut into when cutting the circle. Use ..read more

DIY Wood Trunk with Storage - Free Woodworking Plan

Why I Built this Wood Trunk I have been storing our gift wrapping supplies in the guest room - it just makes sense to be able to wrap presents in the guest room with the door closed. So I wanted to create a storage solution that guests would not use, but was still easily accessible.  An end of bed chest was the answer. Guests can use the bench top for setting suitcases and bags, or even seating, but all the storage inside would still be super easy to get to.
