Black Butte Ranch is one of my favorite places! That may sound like a big, cheesy statement but the truth is, it really is. I was very lucky to grow up spending most weekends, holidays and the month of August at The Ranch.  I even had my first “real” job working in the golf course pro shops!  The combination of so many wonderful memories with family and friends and the fact that it’s still one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been adds up to me thinking it is just about perfect for a wedding! Luckily for couples they also have a new lodge with modern amenities but they didn’t ..read more

Portland Garden Wedding with Bridal Bliss and Amanda K!

Mary Jean and Tyler were married in a private garden in downtown Portland, Oregon. Florals in shades of blush, white, and green with an emphasis on locally grown blooms such as roses, dahlias and lisianthus added a classic touch to the day.  Two of my favorite details were the floral installations we were able to do around the arched French doors and also the staircase that both lead into the garden from the main building.   So pretty and such a beautiful backdrop to the garden! Thank you to this sweet couple for letting us be a part of their wedding day! And thank you to thei ..read more

Answers to some of our most frequently asked questions! They range the gamut so hopefully we got to yours but if not, please feel free to reach out directly via email, phone or our contact page here on the site! What does Blüm mean?  And how do I pronounce it?! Our #1 most asked question!  Blümen is German for flowers, it is pronounced blurmen but “bloomen” works just fine. When picking a name we wanted something that referenced our European roots (both genetically and also in floral design training) and also a unique word that was all our own.  So, we took the Germ ..read more

Abigail’s Garden at Abernethy Center Wedding

Alex and Nathan’s wedding at the Abernethy Center in Oregon City was the perfect combination of classic elegance and modern details. White roses, dahlias, lisianthus, calla lilies, mint, sage, and smilax were highlighted in the classic gardeny florals.  The bridesmaids all wore white dresses for a modern take on wedding dressing and it also helped the florals really pop in images. For the ceremony, I love how the couple chose to put the floral emphasis on enhancing their ceremony gazebo.   Another beautiful detail was wrapping the interior poles of the reception tent with gree ..read more

Caroline and John hosted a rehearsal dinner and welcome party amongst the vines on the eve of their wedding day. Stoller Family Estate in the Willamette Valley is John’s family’s winery and as such an incredibly meaningful location for the couple.  It also meant we had access to fully utilize the property which included the location for their rehearsal dinner out in the vineyard!  Technically a farm access road the flat, wide space between the rows of grapes could not have been more picturesque for the event. Greenlight Creative installed a magical tunnel of fairy lights that glowe ..read more

Wedding flower inspiration! It’s everywhere and it’s really easy to get overwhelmed!  People often ask me how we decide what flowers to use for weddings and how we came up with the scheme.  The truth is it varies a bit event to event (of course) but one thing remains true…It’s a collaboration.  Sometimes we work directly with the client. Sometimes we work more directly with the event planner.  Some people know exactly what they want and others have no idea. Most often it’s somewhere in between.  Whatever it may be we’ll take a look at aesthetic preferences, needs, an ..read more
