Fitness In The City was born out of sheer frustration at the lack of fitness options that I myself wanted to do. Training that made me want to get out of bed, motivate me to leave work and lace up my sneakers, to feel supported and encouraged not just while training but away from training as well. Home to all things fitness, nutrition, recipes and health. Blog by Lee Sutherland.

We get it, if you’re at the start of your eco journey it can be overwhelming. Rather than tackling it all at one here are 3 easy swaps that you can make and weave into your life.
PANTRY
Stocking up the pantry with dry goods doesn’t have to been hundreds of individual bags, in fact it can mean the opposite. I have a new found love for shopping in bulk, not only does it cut down on your shopping trips but it already means it goes that extra mile in packaging.
Me? I shop in bulk at Naked Foods where it allows me to take in my own jars to refill pretty much everything you could ever need – honey ..read more

Restrictions are lifting (woohoo!) and gyms are opening back up, but just because you CAN hit the gym, you still may want to err on the side of caution. Totally acceptable. Here are 3 ways you can workout from home this June if you’re still cautious about hitting the gym and sweating it out next to strangers.
Social Media
So many brands and fitness influencers embraced free workouts while we were in isolation to help combat boredom and keep our spirits high. Head to the IGTV’s of brands like P.E Nation and yoga instructors like Lola Berry for free workouts. Remember t ..read more

There’s nothing like having a stash of (natural) beauty products in the bathroom cupboard to turn to when you need a little pep up. And now, more than ever thanks to #isoliving we could do with a big dose.
You don’t have to be a full blown beauty blogger to appreciate that fresh face feel, and that’s what I love about products – there’s something for everyone. The girlie girl, the busy mum who only has 5 minutes (me!), the eco living toxin free tribe or the minimalize… anyone can achieve what they want without being excluded.
While everyone’s *must have list will differ, mine tends to be Aussi ..read more

In our modern lives of fast-food convenience and sugary snacks, it’s not uncommon to have the thought “I really need to start cooking more at home”. For many of us this, unfortunately, remains little more than a vague promise we make to ourselves, a promise that we soon forget about when evening hunger strikes, and we’re too tired from work to even contemplate cooking a meal from scratch.
If the inconvenience of home cooking is what’s holding you back, you should try to employ a few of the following strategies to help you get back in the kitchen so you can save money and improve your health at ..read more

Even if you’re using your Keep Cup every day and always carrying a reusable shopping bag, there are still ways to improve your green credentials.
The average Australian family produces enough rubbish every year to fill a three-bedroom house – that’s around 2.25kg of waste created every day,[i] it’s important to recycle correctly, so that our waste isn’t, er, wasted. So what should go where? Follow our easy guide.
Household Furniture
Not all rubbish can be left at the kerb. Investigate the use of specific waste boxes, which allow you to recycle everything from cigarette butts to chewing ..read more

If there’s one thing I know it’s leading a full and somewhat busy life, I also know that when I’m down it takes a while for me to get back up again so prevention is always the key, and it should be for you too.
Studying Natural Health Science in the past has put me miles in front of understanding the ins and outs of this BUT I don’t always practice what I preach (naughty I know). If only we took as much care for ourselves, our bodies and mind as we did our schedules then it would be a much healthier planet!
I now prefer to streamline everything – rather than taking 20 supplements I find ones t ..read more

When it comes to getting enough vegetables in our diet—many of us fall short of the daily recommended amount of 5-6 servings[i].
In fact, according to Nutrition Australia, Australians of all ages on average have a poor diet with only 4% of us who meet these vegetable requirements[ii].
With this week marking National Nutrition Week—Nutrition Australia is encouraging healthy eating by educating consumers on how to try for five servings of vegetables through food waste management and breaking stereotypical vegetable consumption habits[iii].

So, I feel like this absolutely needs to be a new series on the blog – how to adult. Coming from someone who has 3 businesses – including managing the careers of others, not to mention having 2 tiny humans of my own to keep alive, you’d think I would be nailing adulting. But you’d be wrong. You see I put everyone and everything else first that sometimes the mere basics slip to the sideline. Well that was before because now, I’m onto it, one task at a time.
I’ve already ticked off skin cancer check, dentist and now it’s time to look into my health cover. And by investigate it, I mean researchin ..read more
