Welcome back! I’m still going on about AI, but it’s hard not to seeing as every other day seems to bring new developments. Bing has integrated ChatGPT for a select few users, and by all accounts it has more than a few issues to iron out. Microsoft’s plan is to integrate it with all their products, so some of my recent predictions are already bearing fruit. Shopify is offering it in their Shop app, making it arguably the first AI shop assistant when it comes to search integration. Interesting times.

Bing and Chat can be an hilarious duo!

In today’s fast-paced digital world, website speed and performance play a crucial role in determining the success of a business’s online presence. In this blog post, we will explore the importance of site speed and performance, including the impact of Core Web Vitals on your website.
Understanding Core Web Vitals

Welcome back! It’s started. The AI wars have begun, and Microsoft has cast the first stone by integrating ChatGPT into its Bing search engine. Technically it’s not openly available yet, but there is a demo online. So where does this leave Google? Well, they’re entering the fray with their Bard AI model, one that they hope will retain their user base and see off their old rival.
What I learned
AI wars are exciting. And scary!

What happens if publishers stop publishing?
Who do we trust?

Welcome back Rankers! AI is still the topic of choice for most industries, so I’ll follow up last week’s video and tell you how we’re using it for both ourselves and for our clients. The fear is that AI will take people’s jobs, but I think it will shake up certain markets as opposed to targeting the individual.
What I learned
How we plan to use AI
Why it should help individuals be better
Increase your business efficiency
Understanding Garbage In, Garbage Out
How it can increase your output

Welcome back everyone! Happy New Year to you all. AI is the topic on everyone’s lips at the moment, and I think it’s going to have a massive impact on our industry this year. In particular, the chatbot interface called ChatGPT has exploded in popularity. Utilise its power and it can be a great time saver, but I don’t think it will be the Google-killer some think it will. Not yet anyway!
What I learned
Why ChatGPT is all the rage.
How it can save you lots of time.
Why you should avoid mass content creation.
Some industries will benefit.
Why it won’t kill off Google.

Welcome back. We’ve just got through the Black Friday sales and it was a whopper this year. Biggest one ever in Australia in terms of search volume and sales according to Shopify. It’s not looking good for the Boxing Day sales according to early data, so we’ll have to wait for that result. Big brands have done well, and it reinforces what I teach (and Google confirms) that brand power will out-rank backlinks. We don’t do it and I recommend you don’t either. Focus on your UX and ad copy and Google will reward you.

Welcome back Rankers. Just been looking over the data for a new client of ours. Tracking progress is important, and I can’t emphasise how important annotating in GA is. Won’t be able to do it soon with GA4 so that’s annoying. Anyway, tracking changes and results helps you home in on what is and isn’t working on the site. From there you can adjust your strategy to improve the poor performing areas. Analysing results means looking at everything sitewide as it’s rarely just one problem you can solve.

Why GA4 will make things harder.

Hey Rankers. What is SEO? It’s not what most people think it is. The closest to optimisation you will get is to improve your site for the user. Publishing all the content in the world won’t help sell a product if it’s only information. Optimising your site helps Google find it better and delivers a great customer experience.
What I learned
SEO isn’t what most people think it is.
None of us owns a search engine.
Can the search engine find your site?
How is your user experience?
The benefits of strong SEO.

Welcome back everyone! My comments last week about a 3% conversion rate certainly stirred a reaction from some viewers. One person thought they were stuck at 3%, but when I had a look, it depended on which channel was being viewed. Through one it was a fantastic 27%! The lesson is to analyse each individual channel and see what is working. Understand the poor performers and improve those conversions.
What I learned
Does 3% reflect all your channels?
Understand your best performing channels.
The importance of site search.
Speed is half the battle.
